Instagram for Android is Ready – Indicates Co-Founder Kevin Systrom
This is one big news for us Android users. The popular iOS app Instagram is nearing it’s official Android launch. Kevin Systrom, the Co-Founder of Instagram said in a short chat with TechCrunch editor - Alexia Tsotsis,
In some ways, it’s better than our iOS app. It’s crazy. I don’t think it took us so long. We just had priorities. Had we tried to be both on Android and iPhone at the same time, it would’ve been tough to innovate in the way that we have.
Earlier the popular photo sharing company dismissed all the rumors doing rounds about the official launch of Instagram for Android. The Instagram Co-Founder did show-off the official Android app to tease the viewers present at the SXSW Interactive conference in Austin, Texas. But he asserted that the company wasn’t ready to demonstrate it.

But there are clear indications that Instagram is looking to compete and defeat it’s competitor Path. They must be aware of the fact that Pinterest would prove more competitive than Path once it launches it’s Android app.
This has become a trend I guess, first to dismiss the reported news & then reveal the app in an event. Publicity talks these days.
In this week I’ll write a separate post on things to look out for in the new Instagram for Android app.
