Google is introducing a brand-new feature, Ambient Mode which will help Google Assistant have the ability of turning your Android tablet or smartphone into a smart display.
The Ambient Mode in Google Assistant will convert Android tablets and smartphones into a smart display to provide a better experience hands-off. The current generation of tablets and smartphones are fully-loaded with regards to computational abilities. However, smart displays pretty much are limited in terms of their operation, still they do benefit from a voice-rested interaction model as well as a distinct visual overview. But now, when supported tablets and smartphones are plugged-in and charging, Google Assistant would show notifications, weather, calendar information, music controls, home controls and reminders. Besides, Assistant would also display a slideshow by taking pictures from the user’s Google Photos.
The Ambient Mode would be available in the Lenovo Yoga Smart Tab tablets and Lenovo Smart Tab M8 HD when you dock them. The mode would also be available in the new Nokia 6.2 and 7.2 smartphones when on you put them on charging. Google hasn’t disclosed information about other devices with Ambient Mode but it is hardly a feature which it can keep exclusionary for a long time.
