Valorant’s player-base is emerging since the release of its beta version. With the consistent streams from players like Tenz and Shroud on various social media platforms, more and more players are joining the game. However, more players mean more crowd on servers. Moreover, a more crowded server means more bugs and server errors. In multiplayer games like Valorant where even a 1ms time frame can create a huge difference, the servers must be fully-functional and fast. Unfortunately, even the best of the servers find it difficult to hold onto their functionality in some cases, resulting in errors inside the game. In this article, we share details about the Valorant error that fails retrieving or save settings from server issue along with some of our workarounds on how to fix it.
Valorant is a game that stores all your settings on its server. Therefore, you have to connect to the server so that it downloads the settings and applies them to your game while it’s on the loading screen. Sometimes, due to poor device-to-server connection, Valorant fails to retrieve or save settings from the server. This can cause a lot of problems inside the game as these errors set all your in-game settings to default. Due to this, the customized keybinds are changed to the default ones. But if you can fix the error, you will not have to go through the hassle of binding all your keys again.

Valorant error retrieving or failed to save settings from server issue: How to fix it
1) Check your network connection: Go to a speed test website and check if your router is delivering a constant upload-download speed. If not, try changing your network source.
2) Restart your router: If you have a single stable network connection but your router is having some trouble, try restarting it. If the restart also does not work, try resetting the router.
3) Close background processes: Go to the Task Manager of your PC and check the Network section. If any app other than Valorant is consuming data heavily, close that app via the Processes tab.
4) Metered connection: If you are using a mobile hotspot, go to the Wi-fi settings and set the connection to metered connection. This setting will stop the unnecessary consumption of data from the background.
5) Check if the servers are online: Sometimes, the server may go down for a bit due to maintenance and other routine check-ups. Therefore, simply launch the Riot Client and check if there is any prompt showing that Valorant servers are under maintenance. However, if not, then head to the official Valorant Service Status page and check if the servers of your specific region are running.
6) Sign out and sign in again: Exit the game by clicking on the Sign Out and Exit option. Log in to your account and see if the settings are retrieved or not.
These fixes will get your custom settings back. However, if the problem persists, try starting the game after a while. Wait for Riot to fix the issue and only then start the game. This problem is quite common so you don’t need to uninstall and install the game. Just have a little patience and the error will most probably solve itself.
