Overwatch 2 not using GPU: Fixes & Workarounds
You can apply the following fixes to make the game use your primary GPU while running. However, if the problem persists, do not forget to contact official support for further assistance.
1) Restart the game:
The first thing that you need to do is restart the game. By restarting the game, you will be able to bypass any temporary error that might be stopping the game from utilizing the GPU.
2) Restart the system:
If merely restarting the game doesn’t yield any significant change in the GPU usage, you can restart your system to let any bug or glitch out of your system.
3) Re-plug your external monitor:
If you are using an external monitor, the game may redirect the integrated graphics to that display. Therefore, before you start the game, unplug your external monitor and then plug it in again after you start Overwatch 2.
4) Update your graphics drivers:
There is a high chance that the game isn’t able to utilize the GPU in your system because it does not have the latest drivers to support its functioning. Therefore, updating the GPU drivers to the latest version can help you get through this issue. You can do this by going to the respective app or website of your GPU’s manufacturer.
5) Prioritise the game for high performance:
Go to System> Display> Graphics. Now, click on Browse. From here, go to the installation directory of Overwatch 2 and select the .exe file of the game and add it. Once added, go to the Overwatch 2 option in the Graphics menu and select Options In the Options menu, select “High Performance” and select “Save”.
6) Turn off the hybrid mode:
This fix is especially for MSI laptops or devices. You can go to the MSI center and force the GPU for your system instead of the hybrid configuration.
7) Force GPU for your system:
You can make sure that the game uses your dedicated GPU to run by accessing your GPU’s supporting software and selecting the High-Performance mode for the game.
8) Disable integrated graphics:
You can also disable your integrated graphics for a while to force Overwatch 2 to use your dedicated GPU. You can do this by going to the Device Manager> Display Adapters> Intel Graphics/ AMD Radeon Graphics. From here, disable the integrated graphics.
By using the above fixes, you will be able to get through the issue where Overwatch 2 is not using the GPU to its fullest potential. On this note, we hope that you will have an enormous kill streak in Overwatch 2. Also, for the latest updates in the world of tech and gaming, do not forget to visit Androidgram.
