Predecessor’s success has been a testament to the fact that MOBA games are still relevant. Featuring a team-based action strategy setting, Predecessor offers players both PvP and Co-Op fun, along with a TPP view which is a unique experience in itself. With the game recently hitting its open beta phase and being free to play, its player base has increased drastically. Well, as new players are joining in on the fun, reports of errors encountered by them have also started to appear frequently. One of the annoying errors in Predecessor is the error p-2003. And, since you are reading this, it is clear that you have encountered the same as well. So, now you must be wondering whether there is a fix for it yet. If yes, consider reading this guide until the end for more details on how to get rid of it.
Error codes are part and parcel of any new game released. There is hardly any game that is devoid of bugs and issues, and Predecessor is no exception. With the game being in its early access phase, it is quite obvious that issues will occur. However, it depends on the developers whether they act upon the feedback of the players and fix issues before releasing the full version. So, what’s the status of the error p-2003 in Predecessor?

Well, the error p-2003 is a known issue in the game that the developers are aware of. They have even shared details of this error on the official Common Issues page of the game’s website. As per the developers, this is a login error that occurs when the login token is invalid. Players report encountering it after launching the game following a crash, especially when using the Steam client. Some even said that it is particularly a Steam issue, but one of the officials in the Omeda Studios team said otherwise.

Anyway, if you are encountering it, here are some workarounds for you to try:
1) Restart
If the game fails to log you in, consider restarting it one more time. And, if doing so doesn’t yield any result, we recommend a full system restart.
2) Verify Game Files Integrity
It is possible that corrupted files are to blame for the occurrence of this error code in Predecessor. So, we recommend that you verify the integrity of game files to make sure that isn’t the case. In order to do this, head over to the Steam client, and open Library. Now, find Predecessor from the list of games in your Steam Library, and right-click on it. After this, select Properties. In the Properties menu, click on the Installed Files tab, and then select Verify Integrity of Game Files. The scan will commence. Once completed, launch the game, and then check if the error code persists. To verify the game files via the EGL client, head over to the game’s tile, click on the three dots option, select Manage>Verify.
3) Restart Steam/Epic Games client
Although restarting your PC does the same, we recommend restarting the game client launcher manually. This workaround has been listed on the game’s official website to fix the error code p-2003. In addition, you can even try logging out of the client launcher, restarting it, and then logging in again to check if this fixes the issue.
4) Switch to Steam Beta Channel
A player was able to get rid of this issue by switching to the Beta channel of Steam. Although the exact reason is not known, we suspect that doing so updates the Steam client to the latest Beta version which somehow bypasses the login error in Predecessor. So, if the previous workarounds fail, try this. To switch to the beta version of Steam, follow these steps:
- Open Steam first, and then click on the Settings option at the very top of the launcher window.
- Now, select the Account tab, and then the Beta Participation option.
- After this, click on the Change option, and select the Steam Beta Update option.
- Next, restart the Steam client. Once done, launch the game and check if the issue persists.
5) Check network connection
Since this is a login issue, we recommend that you check your network connection. It is possible that the network connection in use is not reliable, resulting in the occurrence of the invalid login error. To fix it, you can either restart your router or switch to an Ethernet connection for better stability. And if doing so doesn’t get rid of the issue, you can switch to a different network and try again.
6) Run as Admin
Another workaround worth trying is to run Steam as administrator and then launch the game. To do this, first, exit Steam, and make sure it is not running in the background. Now, right-click on the Steam shortcut and select the Run as Administrator option. This will launch Steam with admin privileges, hopefully getting rid of this issue.
7) Run game via the launcher, not its shortcut or .exe file
A player mentioned that launching the game using its shortcut was resulting in the error p-2003 for them. So, refrain from doing so, and use either Steam or Epic Games Launcher for the same.
8) Switch to EGL
Since many have mentioned this error as being related to Steam, we recommend you install the game using the Epic Games launcher and then launch it. Doing so might fix the issue for good.
9) Whitelist game
It is possible that your firewall or antivirus program is blocking the game’s access to the internet. So, to rule out this possibility, we recommend that you whitelist the game in your Firewall settings as well as your antivirus, or disable them temporarily before launching the game.
For now, these are the workarounds you can try to fix the error code p-2003 in Predecessor. If this guide provided you with all the information you needed, consider visiting Android Gram daily for more such interesting content on all things gaming.
