The Horizon video game series has been one of the most popular creations of Sony. Serving as the sequel to the 2017 released Horizon Zero Dawn, Horizon Forbidden West offers the same post-apocalyptic setting where you take control of the game’s protagonist Aloy, and begin your journey to uncover the source of the plague that has infected the world. Released back in 2022 for both PS4 and PS5, the game made its PC debut on March 24, 2024. Ever since then, PC gamers have been able to get their hands on this title, and players with handheld systems are wondering whether they can enjoy the game as well. So, if you are wondering whether Horizon Forbidden West supports Steam Deck, Lenovo Legion Go, and Asus Rog Ally, consider reading this for more details.
The USP of handheld gaming systems is their portability. With these systems, you can take your favorite games with you and enjoy them whenever you like. That said, this does come at a price. And, that’s performance. Unlike a powerful PC, handhelds have very inferior hardware that’s just barely enough to run AAA titles at acceptable framerates. Since Horizon Forbidden West is indeed an AAA game, is it compatible with these handhelds? Let’s find out.

Steam Deck
Despite being a huge game that requires powerful hardware, Horizon Forbidden West runs quite well on the Steam Deck. Although as of now, it is not listed as either Playable or Verified, player reports have made it clear that the game runs out of the box without having to tinker with the settings. You can get an average of 25-30 FPS in the game with low settings, and considering that the Deck has entry-level hardware, it is quite acceptable. You can even lower the in-game resolution to 768p to get more FPS but the visuals will take a hit.
Asus Rog Ally and Lenovo Legion Go
Similar to the Deck, the Asus Rog Ally and Lenovo Legion Go can run Horizon Forbidden West quite well. Since both of these handhelds have slightly powerful hardware when compared to the Deck, they can run the game at a much higher FPS, in the range of 30-40 on average. Although that’s not quite a huge difference, it just runs better. Here’s a gameplay video of the game running on the Asus Rog Ally:
So, if you have any of the handhelds, feel free to try the game out as its performance is more than satisfactory. That said, we hope now you have an idea of the support details of Horizon Forbidden West on Steam Deck, Asus Rog Ally, and Lenovo Legion Go.
