You can also kill them for resources and meat at any time, but some dinos especially the “Brontosaurus” are better tamed than killed in Ark Survival Ascended. Large Bear Traps
Firstly, make a few large bear traps. The Brontosaurus is a beast, after all, so trapping it should be your priority. Go to any nearest refining forge station and also bring these items along with you:
- Fiber x20
- Metal Ingots x12
- Hide x30
If you have scrap metal ingots, then that works too, instead of metal ingots. Once you have the required materials, you can craft a total of 2x Large Bear traps. After you set the traps, use your weapons to shoot at the beast to draw its attention. Now, run towards the traps and make sure that the Brontosaurus gets trapped. You can also use Dinosaur Gateways to trap it.
Tranquilizer
Now that the dinosaur is trapped, using tranquilizer darts is your bread and butter for taming it. There are multiple types of tranquilizers, depending on their rank and effectiveness. Choose which one you can afford. Remember that you need around 50 of these Tranquilizers, and that’s why it’s best to cheap out on them. The expensive ones will stun the target quicker, but they also cost more precious resources. It’s your call!
Kibbles
After the beast is down, it is now time to feed kibble. Here’s the list of kibbles you can use for this process:
- Basic
- Simple
- Regular
- Superior
- Exceptional
- Extraordinary
Although these are the kibbles you can use, using Exception Kibble will be the best choice. Also, to keep the dinosaur asleep, feed it berries and narcotics until the taming process is complete.
The strategy
Now that you have an idea of what to do, here’s a brief rundown of the entire process:
- Find a Brontosaurus. You can find one towards the edges of The Island, near the beaches.
- Put the bear traps in an appropriate location.
- Hit the beast with your ranged weapons to get its attention.
- Lure it into the trap.
- Once it’s in, quickly go near it and block the entrance with the fifth trap.
- Now, make some space between you and the beast.
- Load tranquilizers into your weapon, and start shooting until it goes to sleep.
- Once it’s knocked out, go near and transfer exceptional kibbles into its inventory.
- After the taming bar fills up to 100%, remove the bear traps and put on a saddle. (optional)
