Ark Survival Ascended (ASA): How to get & find Oil
As of now, there are three ways to get oil. Irrespective of the method you choose to get this resource, by the end, you will have plenty to use for your in-game adventures.
Blue Coral
This method is especially for Indiana Jones lovers. For this method, you will have to head over to the ocean surface and dive deep to find blue-colored corals. Once you find one, start hitting it with your melee weapon, and eventually, you will get yourself a bunch of oil. These corals can be found anywhere in the ocean. Just keep exploring the water, and you will never have to worry about oil.
Kill for Resource
If you aren’t in the mood for some Indiana Jones action to get the resources you need, then there’s always an option to kill and steal. Yes, a few in-game dinosaurs drop oil after being killed. These are:
- Basilosaurus (Found in the ocean)
- Trilobite (Found in the ocean)
- Leeches (Found around the waters in the Pack Cave area (68.2, 56.1) and the east side of Green Obelisk (58.9, 72.3))
Stripped Rocks (Snowy Region)
These rocks are only found in snowy areas that serve as oil nodes. If you aren’t up for the challenge, then you might freeze to death. So, make sure you have the appropriate gear to visit the cold areas. These rocks have strips in them, just like their name, which differentiates them from ordinary rocks. Upon hitting them, you will receive oil. Here are the coordinates of a few of these locations in Ark Survival Ascended:
- 29.5, 22.3
- 25.6, 9.8
- 9.7, 8.5
- 5.7, 7
- 10.7, 13.2
- 9.2, 23
Remember that these are only the hotspots of the stripped rocks. You should look around for more. Also, as a side note, the rocks are usually near the ocean but not in the ocean. They will be over the frozen surface, which makes them easier to find. Some can be found in the snowy mountains, but not quite as often.
