Ark Survival Ascended is finally out for PC players, and it intends to follow the granular customization and mod support that were popular with ASE. This method allows modders and users to individually modify settings and parameters to make their game as customized as possible. This allows you to completely customize, down to the last detail, how your Ark adventure is going to go. Anyway, with the variety of creatures featured in the game, the default server tame limit might be a little too low for some players. Well, the ability to modify settings and parameters will come in handy in this situation.
The server tame limit is the number of dinos you can have tamed and saved in a save file at the same time. This is common for online servers and offline play (if not edited) and has a hard cap. Post this limit, any dinos you tame will just disappear, and you will not be able to interact with them. This was started because Ark is a demanding game, and the servers might crash if unlimited dino tames are allowed for players and tribes. However, there are ways to increase the server tame limit, and we have shared details on the same below.
Ark Survival Ascended (ASA): How to Increase Server Tame Limit?
While you cannot change this limit everywhere, you can in some scenarios. If you running a dedicated server, you can change the server tame limit by following the given steps:
How to change it?
Changing the server tame limit is a complicated method, and you will need to really dig into the game configuration files for it. As of right now, there is no way to increase this in-game. The 100-dino limit (lower than the 500 in ASE) has driven a lot of players mad, and they are looking for ways to change it.
Well, to do this, you will have to head over to the Game.ini or Gameusersettings.ini files in the game’s installation directory to change the limit. This is a very technical method that you might not be familiar with. However, you can follow the given steps for a detailed explanation.
Modify the Game.ini file
This file can be found in the installation directory of your game. The default directory is: Steam\steamapps\common\ARK Survival Ascended\ShooterGame\Saved\Config\WindowsServer. It is a file that defines the limits of your game. So, open it with Notepad. Now, under the default brackets, input the following command (copy and paste exactly);
[/script/shootergame.shootergamemode]
MaxPersonalTamedDinos=5000
If this does not work, then you will have to edit the Gameusersettings.ini file, which is also in the same folder. In this folder, you will want to input the following under Server Settings:
[ServerSettings]
MaxTamedDinos=50000
MaxPersonalTamedDinos=5000
Once you have made these changes, save the file and close it. These changes should now be reflected in-game on the dedicated server.
Change Server Tame Limit on Nitrado Server
If you are hosting your dedicated server on Nitrado, you can change the server tame limit by heading over to the Server Dashboard and selecting the General option under the Settings tab. Here, you will find the Maximum amount of dinos tamed option. You can change it to your desired value.
