Everyone hates raptors in Ark until they get their first few tames. Why? They are really aggressive, usually in packs, and tend to attack anything that is about the size of a trike (you are a whole lot smaller). These dinos in the early game are your worst enemies. Together, they are almost as bad as a solitary low-level Rex and can really make you want to uninstall the game, unless you tame them. These are tameable creatures and are your ticket out of the beach in Ark. So, if you are wondering how to tame a raptor in Ark Survival Ascended, consider reading this guide for more details.
Getting out of the beach is one of your first objectives in Ark. Like in ASE, ASA makes it a point to push you off the beach as soon as it possibly can. To do this, you are going to have to go look for resources (some of the spawns have changed), collect resources, and tame creatures like the pteranodon and the trike. Well, after you have tamed quite a handful of creatures, it is time for you to bat an eye on the raptor.
Ark Survival Ascended (ASA) Raptor Taming Guide: How to tame & get it?
Taming a raptor is always a good idea. While they are small dinos, you can ride them. They are pretty fast for a land mount and can even jump, giving you some extra mobility. These adaptations make them some of the most useful dinosaurs in-game. Since you can tame them for a pack bonus (up to 4 raptors in a pack), they can actually be quite deadly if you level them up. This makes roaming around the beaches so much safer for you.
How to tame them?
Raptors in Ark Survival Ascended are simple knockout tames. Since you are unlikely to have any real kibble this early in the game, you will have to stick to using meat to tame them. This is also a good idea because they are tamed very fast and don’t stay knocked out for too long. The ideal way to tame them is to separate them from the pack, choose the level you want to tame, and then shoot a bola at them. Once its mobility is restricted, use a tranq arrow with a crossbow and knock it out. Clubs and slingshots will also work for lower levels. Once they are knocked out, you can place Prime Meat or any meat to begin the taming process.
Tips and tricks for the tame?
Well, since you can trap raptors quite early during your in-game journey, you don’t really need a trap or anything. If you have a decently strong tame already, you can just fight the pack and isolate the one you want to tame. If you don’t, you will have to get creative with the bolas and kill the ones you don’t want. Once you have it stuck, you can tame it pretty easily. While you can ideally stand on a rock or a larger tame (with a lot of health and passive) and shoot them, you want to get them stuck when they start running away. When their torpor is high and they are going to get knocked out, they typically start running away from you. This is the time when you want them to be stuck so that they can’t run away, even if they want to.
