Beating up enemies or solving puzzles for loot—that’s what most RPGs are known for. Diablo or Genshin Impact both allow players to roam on their own and experience the thrill. Meanwhile, the story mode helps you unlock new areas of the map and even some mandatory weapons and equipment. Well, there’s yet another game that has recently been released for PC, and its name is Baldur’s Gate 3. In the game, there are numerous traps and toxic areas that you need to pass through to progress in the story. One such hurdle in your path will be noxious fumes. Wondering how you can get past them? If so, consider reading this guide until the end.
Countless traps are placed in various regions of the map in Baldur’s Gate 3. Meanwhile, these traps become more deadly if a quest requires you to chase a culprit. That’s how most players will come across the impossible-looking Noxious Fumes. As always, there are tricks to dealing with every trap, and this one is no exception.
Baldur’s Gate 3 (BG3) Noxious Fumes: How to get past/through them
After reaching the Riverside Teahouse, where Auntie Ethel resides, you will be given multiple opportunities. You will eventually start a fight with her, which is inevitable since you will be saving quite a lot of her victims. So if you decide to chase the monster while in the middle of the boss fight, then you will eventually stumble upon the Overgrown Tunnel, which is filled with Noxious Fumes. This partially green-looking gas thingy might end your journey right there. But there is a way to escape that fate, and we will discuss that here.
The Trap
The Noxious Fumes do look rather suspicious. It has covered the entire path of the tunnel, and there’s no way around it. So what should you do? Well, obviously, you can’t get past this area just by running through it. But reaching the other side is necessary if you want to catch Ethel and save Mayrina. So here are the steps required for disabling the Noxious fumes:
- Using your spell-casting abilities, use a fire spell and burn the gas. It’ll temporarily clean up the area, but as a side effect, the ground beneath it will have a burning effect.
- Next, you need to find the vent from where the gas is originating. If you are able to find it, grab any cheap item from your inventory and throw it on the vent. If you use a sturdy object, it will eventually block the vent from releasing the gas.
- After this, if you have a water spell, you can use it on the burning ground to make it clear for traversal. Now you can start your chase once again.
Alternate method (Much easier)
However, if you have a party member with high perception, getting past noxious fumes becomes much easier. Instead of burning the ground, the party member can detect the vent with their high level of wisdom, and you can skip the use of fire and water abilities. This saves you quite a lot of time. Since these fumes are originating from the vent, they will disappear once it has been blocked. So, approach the Noxious Fumes with a character that has high perception and perform a Perception Check. If you pass, the vent will be found, and then you can block it with any item in your inventory (stones or junk).
The fundamental point here is that there is a vent from where the Noxious Fumes are leaking. So, to get past it, blocking the vent is a necessary step. That said, we hope you find this guide informative. If you did, make sure to follow Android Gram for more interesting content.
