The crashing issue in Content Warning is something that the developers are aware of. They have acknowledged that this can occur, and have shared a workaround too. So, we have mentioned that workaround, along with a few tried-and-tested potential fixes that can help you fix the issue.
1) Restart PC
Software conflicts can often lead to game-crashing issues. So, before you try any workaround, we recommend that you restart your PC, and then launch the game to check if the issue persists.
2) Verify Integrity of game files
Save files or other game-related files can get corrupted, due to which such issues can occur. So, it is recommended that you verify the integrity of game files to rule out this possibility. To do this, head over to Steam>Library>Content Warning (right-click)>Properties>Installed Files>Verify Integrity of Game Files. Now, select the option, and wait for the scan to be completed. After this, launch the game.
3) Delete save files & recordings
Earlier, we stated that the developers had shared a workaround for the crashing issue. Well, deleting your saves and recordings is what they recommend. To do this, head over to the given file paths and delete the content inside these folders:
- C:\Users\(your username)\AppData\LocalLow\Landfall Games\Content Warning\Saves – replace (your username) with the actual username of your PC.
- C:\Users\(your username)\AppData\Local\Temp\rec – replace (your username) with the actual username of your PC.
Note: The AppData folder will be hidden by default. So, either checkmark the View Hidden option in the View tab of the File Explorer or copy-paste the path into the address bar and press Enter.
Once the content is deleted, launch the game and start fresh. The crashing issue should no longer exist. This method did fix the issue for a lot of players, so it is worth a shot.
4) Disable Mods
There are plenty of mods for Content Warning that add various missing features to the game. However, if you are running into game crashes, we recommend removing the mods altogether and then launching the game. If the game works fine after removing mods, then it is clear that one of the installed mods is causing the issue.
5) Run game as Admin
For this, find the game’s .exe file, and right-click on it. After this, select Properties, and then switch to the Compatibility tab. Here, checkmark the Run as Administrator option. Click on Apply and Ok. Now, launch the game by double-clicking on the .exe file.
6) Anti-virus
Your anti-virus program might be restricting the game’s functioning, due to which it is constantly crashing. So, either disable the anti-virus before launching the game or add the game’s .exe file to the exception list.
That said, these are all the effective workarounds worth trying if you are encountering crashing issues in Content Warning. If you find this guide informative, consider visiting Android Gram for more such content on all things gaming.
