The highly anticipated Deltarune has finally been released on June 4, 2025. Featuring a total of 4 chapters, the game’s initial reception has been nothing short of a miracle. For an indie title, averaging over 50K concurrent players on Steam in itself is a big achievement. But this won’t last for long if the developers don’t fulfill their promises. Back in 2023, when Toby Fox confirmed that the progress of Chapter 5 was not on par with the paid release timeline, fans were disappointed. Due to this, only the 3rd and 4th chapters were added to the paid release in addition to the 1st and 2nd. But now that the game has been released, it is obvious that players will be curious to know when the upcoming chapters 5, 6, and 7 are going to be released.
Chapter 1 of the game was released back in 2018, followed by Chapter 2 in 2021. After this, both the 3rd and 4th chapters made their way into the game in 2025 with the full release. This gives a very non-uniform timeline for the chapter releases, so predicting the release of upcoming chapters will not be based on the previous releases. Deltarune Chapters 5, 6, and 7 Release Date: When are they coming
Chapter 5 Release
So, based on how things are going with the game’s development, it looks like Chapter 5 might be ready around February 2026, give or take. This is an optimistic guess.
Both chapters 3 and 4 took a significant amount of time to be released but that was before the team got a big boost with a new producer and some extra hands on deck. Back in Sept. 2022, Toby Fox confirmed an expansion in their team to work on Chapters 3, 4, and 5. Following this, in Autumn 2023, the developer announced that Chapter 3 is ready to be played from beginning to end. But then, in the Halloween Update 2023, the developer shared that while Chapter 3’s content is ready and the team is working on Chapter 4, progress on Chapter 5 is not anywhere near where they wanted. So, they decided to exclude it from the paid launch. After that, in the Holiday 2024 update, the developer confirmed the completion of both Chapters 3 and 4 and also shared that the team is working on Chapter 5.
The new hires joined partway through and really sped things up; otherwise, both these chapters would have taken much longer to be released! So, with this new workforce, we are expecting that the release of Chapter 5 will take place within a year and a half from the game’s release.
Plus, there won’t be any long testing phases like the LTS stuff that slowed down earlier chapters, so a 1.5-year might just be possible. Chapter 5’s initial development started in September 2024. So, fast forward 1.5 years, and it will be March 2026. That’s what’s pointing to a possible February or March 2026 release for the next chapter of Deltarune. But do note that this is just an educated guess and not confirmed information. Since this is our speculation, make sure to take this information with a pinch of salt.
Chapter 6 and Chapter 7 Release?
Well, as of now, there is no information regarding when Chapters 6 and 7 will be released for Deltarune. If the above-mentioned timeline is to be followed, you can expect a 1.5-year gap between each chapter, pointing to a Sept-Oct 2027 release for Chapter 6 and a Feb-March 2029 release for Chapter 7.
