The makers of Dying Light 2 have promised a lot of DLC in the 5 years that are upcoming. The zombie-parkour game has already garnered a huge fanbase within a few hours of its release. Dying Light’s old fans have always been anticipating this release – the game’s developmental history is not smooth. Did you know that Dying Light 2’s production suffered multiple delays since 2020? Well, that’s past now! The game is available across most popular platforms including PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Windows PC. A Switch version of Dying Light 2 is also expected to release by August 2022 [official information].
Will there be a DLC?
Now that Dying Light’s sequel is finally here, fans have already started speculating its fate. Techland sensed this before – they knew that such queries will flood the internet soon after release. To tackle such a situation, they released a road map for the game’s future developments. And with that, the developers have revealed a plan to include five-year guaranteed content support! The five-year plan includes the following [according to the roadmap]:
1) A second story DLC
2) New weapons
3) New enemies
4) New stories
5) New events
6) New free and paid DLCs
With that being said, let’s take a look at what a retail Dying Light 2 Deluxe Edition includes:
1) A physical copy of Dying Light 2
2) Steelbook case
2) The Legendary skin pack
3) The Reload skin pack
4) The first story DLC pack
5) An exclusive weapon charm
6) Wallpaper downloads, Digital comics, Digital soundtrack, and Digital artbook.
What is planned for Dying Light 2?
1) February 2022: A free DLC described as “factions-inspired”.
2) March 2022: A free update with the working title “set of challenges 1”.
3) April 2022: A free series of events called “Mutated Infected”. The roadmap notes that these events start in April, suggesting that they may be time-limited, but also hinting that they’ll at least stick around beyond the first month.
4) May 2022: A free update with the working title “set of challenges 2”.
5) June 2022: Dying Light 2’s first story DLC, which also represents the first paid add-on post-launch.
There isn’t much information available at the moment on titles or release dates, but there’s a clear intention to continue adding content monthly, though things become vague from July 2022 onwards. Our timeline will be updated as more information becomes available.
It all starts on release, but it's just the beginning! We're planning to keep enhancing the game with DLCs, challenges, stories, events, and more for at least 5 years, and that's a minimum! You sure won't be bored!#DyingLight2 #StayHuman pic.twitter.com/ppJvu2G1sm
