Now that the Dying Light 2: Stay Human has been released by Techland, players are all excited to start playing the game and explore its world filled with all sorts of zombies and nasty creatures. Fans and critics are in love with the game’s visuals. Just that the game is extremely demanding! Even an RTX GPU fails to support beyond 60 FPS with ray tracing enabled. You can also tweak a lot of video settings in the game to suit your PC build or your preference. Among the wide variety of motion and graphic settings, we also have the very popular Field of View or the FOV setting. In this article, we’ll tell you how to change or adjust the FOV setting in Dying Light 2.
What is FOV?
FOV or the Field of View simply means how much of the observable world can be seen at any given moment. The higher the value, the wider the view. By default, Dying Light 2 sets it to 0. But such a low value can be dissatisfying in an open-world game. To give some perspective, these pictures below show the game with two different FOV settings, The first one is with FOV set to 0 and the second picture is when the FOV has been set to max, i.e., 20.
How to change or adjust FOV in Dying Light 2?
Now the steps to change or adjust the FOV are very simple and yet can be missed very easily. Firstly, choose a good location in-game and use it for view reference if you want to adjust the FOV and find the best option that suits you. After you’ve chosen a location, open the pause menu by pausing the game. For PC users, that would be by pressing the ESC key.
Once you get to the pause menu, select the Options > Video tab. Under the Video tab, at the bottom of the screen and you’ll see the ‘Advanced Video Settings’ option. Press the button assigned to it according to your platform to open it. The game will show a warning that making changes to this option will affect your gameplay or may break the game. Simply select OK and move on.
Once in the Advanced Video settings, scroll down a little and you will find the ‘Field of View’ option. As told before, by default, it’s mostly set to 0. Now the best option would be to first set it to max. The highest setting available in Dying Light 2 is 20.
Once you do that, head back. The game will show you a prompt to save the settings made. Choose OK. Once back in the game, you will see a significant change in the area that you can see on the screen now in comparison to when the FOV was set to 0. The perfect setting of FOV comes down to personal preferences, so I’d recommend playing around with the settings until you find the one that you are comfortable with.
