Fortnite is still the world’s most popular battle royale game. While being unique and different from other Battle Royales that came out alongside it, it has cemented itself as one of the most played games in the world by just being an insanely addictive experience for players. From driving around on the map to camping in bushes, this game has seen players do almost everything. While there are still lots of errors and issues in the game, a new issue has arrived in-game. With the release of Chapter 5, there is an issue with the movement mechanics. This article is going to be a short guide on how to fix it.
While there is no bug or error with the movement mechanics in-game, there have been changes made to the game that directly affect movement. How these changes age over time will be something we are yet to discover, but one thing is very clear. A lot of players want their old movement style and settings back. How to do this in the new version of the game? That is where we come in.
Fortnite Chapter 5: How to Fix Movement?
Fixing movement in this case just means changing the settings for movement. This is something that is based on personal preference since, at the end of the day, it is useful only if it feels useful to you. However, a lot of players have reported that the new movement is sluggish and makes the game harder, so it is quite obvious that many players would want to switch back to the old movement settings.
How to fix movement?
Unfortunately, this is limited to PC players for the time being. While consoles are a huge part of the essential Fortnite player base, the methods in this guide are restricted to PC players because these settings aren’t accessible on consoles yet.
- Launch Fortnite and head over to the Settings menu.
- Now, look for the Keyboard Controls option.
- Here, find the Force Walk (Toggle) and Force Walk (Hold) options. You need to disable them by deleting the keybinds for them.
- Next, enable Use Custom Diagonals. Here, change the diagonal values as follows:
- Forward Diagonal Angle: 74
- Strafe Angle: 71
- Backward Diagonal Angle: 135
Using these settings, the movement issue should be fixed to some extent. This will make it a lot easier for you to play the game as before. However, do note that this is just a temporary workaround for the issue.
Is Epic Games going to do anything regarding this?
Due to the huge number of reports from players regarding the movement issue in-game, Epic Games has noted this issue. They stated that they have made some changes to the movement, and this has resulted in some movements being sluggish and uncoordinated. Well, we can hope for some development on this front, and if the reports keep flooding in, it’s only a matter of time before the developers fix this issue for good in an upcoming update.
Let’s talk movement. TBH, it took us a few days to get used to it during our playtests too.
We want to introduce visual improvements & encourage more strategic decision-making in each moment. Here’s what changed:
