Ghosts of Tabor was released as an early access title in March 2023. So far, the reviews have been good, with 80% of Steam reviews being positive. The game is an action shooter that is VR-only. In case you are not aware, VR stands for Virtual Reality, a relatively new technology that simulates the feeling of being physically in the game. It is then obvious that if Ghosts of Tabor does not work on a certain VR platform like Oculus Quest 2, players are left feeling frustrated as they cannot play it. Well, if you too have encountered a similar issue, consider reading this guide for more details.
The Oculus Quest 2 (also called Meta Quest 2) is a VR device developed by Meta. The Quest 2 is a pretty popular VR headset, so we can understand players’ frustrations when games like Ghosts of Tabor do not work on it. Even though it is in early access, the players can only test it if they can actually play it, right? So, fixing such an issue becomes quite mandatory for the developers. But, is there a fix yet?
Ghosts of Tabor not working on Quest 2: How to fix it?
Unfortunately, there are no official fixes announced as of yet by the developers for this issue. So, we have listed out a few workarounds for you to try out below.
Try both modes –
As per NullifiedLife, opening SteamVR before launching the game has helped them get the game running. SteamVR is a free software that allows you to play VR games on Steam. If running using SteamVR does not work, then try running it in Oculus mode as suggested by TACWolf.
Try rebooting your device –
You can try turning your Quest 2 off and on again along with your system. It’s possible the issue might have been a one-time bug of some sort, so rebooting the entire system should clear it if that is indeed the case.
Re-install the game –
It’s possible something might have messed up during the download or installation. You can try completely uninstalling the game and doing a fresh install, as suggested by u/Happy_Book_8910.
Hard reset your device –
itschuta suggested performing a factory reset on your Quest 2. This is a bit of a last resort, as it will completely wipe everything from your Quest 2 as if it were brand new. To do this, turn off the headset and press and hold the power and volume-down buttons simultaneously until you see the boot screen. Now, using the volume buttons, navigate to the ‘Factory Reset’ option and hit the power button. Your headset should now factory reset itself. After this, launch the Oculus application on your PC, and go into the Settings menu. Now, head over to the General tab and make sure to set OpenXR-Runtime as Active. Now, launch Steam and start the game in Oculus VR mode.
It is important to remember that these are unofficial workarounds, so there is no guarantee they will work. So, you will have to wait for an official fix. These sorts of issues are pretty common as the game is still in early access, so it is important to have patience. In the meantime, you can check out Android Gram for more such guides.
