Videotelephony apps have really grown in popularity in the last couple of years. The major reason behind that was the Covid outbreak. Many people were forced to work from home and that is when using those apps became necessary. There are a few apps that let users host meetings, but the need for a more casual approach is what takes users to Google Duo. Google Duo is the only video calling app (that I’ve heard of) that allows 32 participants simultaneously in a video call. That’s a lot more than any user will ever need. But knowing that you have that option with Google Duo already makes it better than other similar apps.
The process to sign up on Duo is simple as well. You just need to verify your phone number and you can start a video chat with anyone in your contacts. But this is where some users are left baffled. Some users can run into an issue where the verification code for Google Duo is not working or isn’t being received on the device. If you are facing the same problem, this article is all you need. Google Duo not working on iPhone: Fixes & Workarounds
Fixes for Google duo verification code not working:
1) Verify the phone number you entered:
You should be absolutely certain that the phone number you have entered is correct. If you have entered the wrong phone number, it is obvious that you won’t receive a verification number. We tend to make mistakes in the most common things sometimes. Hence, rechecking the number you have entered isn’t a bad idea. The Google duo verification code should be sent to your phone number instantly.
2) Make sure the internet is working:
Open other apps on your device and check if the internet is working properly. Latency issues and buffering should be a marker for a weak internet connection. You can try to troubleshoot your internet connection by restarting your router. Or you could just contact your ISP and get it fixed ASAP. The moment your Internet connection is fixed, any problems with the Google duo verification code will go away.
3) See if SMS is enabled:
Check if you are actively receiving the SMS sent to your phone. Send an SMS to your phone using a different phone. Check if it pops up in the notification. If it doesn’t, go into your device settings and reconfigure the SMS permissions.
4) Refresh your network:
This fix has the highest probability of working in this case. When you aren’t receiving the Google duo verification code, toggle the Airplane mode on your device on and off. This will reset the network and give you a stronger signal to receive the verification SMS.
5) Request a new code:
If the code sent to your previously is expired, just request a new code. Many apps have a limit to the number of verification codes they can send in a day. Hence, be careful with how many requests you send out in a day.
6) Troubleshoot the app:
If none of the above fixes work, try the following troubleshooting steps on the Google Duo app – Clear cache, Update app, and Reinstall the app. These troubleshooting steps should be enough to help you deal with the Google duo verification code issue.
