Mountain View tech giant Google recently launched its Google Meet video calling service to take on Zoom and Microsoft Teams. Google meet has already crossed 50 Million downloads on Google Play Store. Well, Google is now integrating the meet right in the Gmail app for both Android and iOS.
Integration of meet in the Gmail app means you can directly join a meeting within the Gmail app whenever you are invited by simply tapping on the URL.
“In the coming weeks, you’ll soon notice a new Meet tab on your phone’s Gmail app where you can see upcoming meetings scheduled in Google Calendar, and easily join them with a single tap,” says Google.
Options like start a new meeting, generate a shareable meeting link and schedule a meeting are available in the calendar. You can also join a meeting via code by tapping on the “Join with a code”.
If you are someone who doesn’t want to use Google meet you can disable the Meet tab by heading to Settings -> Account -> Meet-> uncheck the Meet option.
Recently, Google also integrated Meet in the web version of Gmail. It can be accessed from the left side menu present in Gmail. Google is constantly working to improve the Google Meet as recently a new grid view video calls feature was introduced and a new background blur feature is also under testing.
That’s all for now, rest assured will be updating you as and when Google meet gets new features. Stay tuned!
