It is quite common for users to embed videos into their Google Slides presentations. However, recent reports have revealed an issue in Google Slides where the audio doesn’t work when a video is played that’s embedded. This can be quite an annoying issue, but if you are encountering the same problem, your search for a solution ends here. In this guide, we have shared a list of effective workarounds for you to try and get rid of the no audio playback issue in Google Slides. Here’s everything you need to know.

Now, this issue isn’t just limited to audio playback issues during embedded video playback. Some users have also shared that after an embedded video is played on one of the slides in Google Slides, the background audio output of all slides is disabled. So, it is pretty clear that the issue is related to the video playback in Google Slides. Well, then, how can you fix it?

For the majority of the time, this isn’t an issue per se, but a setting that is causing the audio to stop working or mute itself. That said, here are some effective workarounds for you to try:

1) Change Share Settings of Every Audio File

If you are trying to access a Google Slides file that belongs to someone else, or vice versa, you have to make sure that the original owner has provided access to the audio file to everyone. If you are the owner of the Google Slides file that contains audio, first, find the audio files that are being used on Google Drive. After this, right-click on each file, select Share, and then change the Share Setting to “Anyone With The Link”. This will hopefully do the trick and make the audio file accessible.

2) Change Audio Playback Permission

This is the most effective step that has worked for the majority of the user base. So, if you are encountering audio-related issues in a Google Slides file, you have to make sure that the Audio Playback Permission is set to Always Allow Sound. To do this, find the volume symbol with an x next to it in your Google Slides presentation. Click on it and change permissions from “Mute Audio” to “Always Allow Sound”. This should fix the issue.

3) Manually upload every audio file again

If the audio files on your Google Slides file aren’t accessible by others, then consider going to the Google Slides folder in Google Drive, and then re-uploading every audio file in the same directory. After this, open the Google Slides file and insert the recently uploaded audio files to the slides.

4) Disable “Disable HTML5 autoplay” Extension

If you are using the “Disable HTML5 autoplay” extension, consider disabling it before playing the videos in a Google Slides file.

5) Create a new slide

If all else fails, then there’s only one workaround left to try, and that’s creating a new Google Slides file. If the audio issue was indeed a glitch in the previous file, creating a new one should fix the issue.

For now, these are the workarounds you can try to fix the audio not working issue in Google Slides. If you find this guide informative, consider visiting Android Gram daily for more such guides.
