How to fix Grammarly not working in Outlook 365:
1) Optimize for compatibility:
In Outlook 365, go to File > Options > General > User interface > Optimize for compatibility. It is important that you enable this feature. Once that is done, restart Outlook and Grammarly as well. After restarting both the software, check if Grammarly has taken over with the expected overlay.
2) Restart Grammarly:
Close Grammarly completely. If necessary, right-click your taskbar to open Task Manager and select Grammarly to end the task. Now, reopen Grammarly. It should work fine alongside Outlook 365. If it is still not fixed, try the next troubleshooting step.
3) Unblock Outlook 365:
In Grammarly, users can block certain apps on their devices. If you do not wish to use Grammarly with certain apps, blocking them on Grammarly itself is enough. You will have to check if Outlook 365 is on that list of blocked apps. Open Grammarly and click on Settings. Switch to the ‘Blocked Apps’ tab to see the list of apps that you have blocked. If Outlook is somehow on that list, remove it. This will immediately fix the problem for you!
4) Restart the device:
A quick and simple restart cannot hurt anyone. Restart your device which is facing the issue. After the restart, launch both Grammarly and Outlook 365. In case the app was dealing with a temporary error, a restart should be enough to fix it. If the problem persists, try the next step.
5) Reinstall Grammarly:
If nothing in this article managed to help your situation, the best call is to reinstall Grammarly. Uninstall Grammarly from your device. Perform a restart as a safety measure. After the restart, go through the process of setting up Grammarly again. Doing this should hardly take 10 minutes. This will most definitely fix the problem that is preventing Grammarly from working in Outlook 365.
