Grammarly Overleaf

Grammarly is one of the best writing tools on the market as of now. It gives you many suggestions, corrects spelling mistakes, and fixes grammar for free! You can rely on it for any writing work that you think needs to have perfect grammar and spelling. It can be a school homework or a formal letter to a client. With Grammarly, you can easily correct your mistakes and present your best work every time. It rectifies most of the errors that are common when writing a piece of work. It is easy to make mistakes when typing fast. And usually, people look over those mistakes or are unable to recognize them because the difference is minute. But this doesn’t stop others from being critical of your work. To avoid getting into trouble in your workplace for small writing errors, installing Grammarly is the best decision you can take. The most commonly used software for typing is Microsoft Word. Hence, it is expected that Grammarly will work fluently with Word.

It should work like the perfect companion software for Word. And in most cases, it does do the job. Grammarly rectifies the text in your Word document and suggests more accurate alternatives. On the off chance that Grammarly does not do its job, use these troubleshooting methods to fix it.

Fixes for Grammarly not working in Word:
Grammarly in word

1) Keep Grammarly running:

When you use Grammarly with Word, a small window pops up on the screen. According to my observations, closing this window can sometimes cause Grammarly to shut down entirely. Hence, the overlay that detects your mistakes is gone. The easiest fix for this problem is to keep Grammarly open at all times. Clicking the Word window will put the Grammarly window behind it. So you don’t have to worry about it ‘being in the way’.

2) Check the list of blocked apps:

Speaking of windows, the Grammarly window is where you will find the next fix. Open Grammarly and click on Settings. The Settings button should be at the bottom of the window towards the middle. After that, switch to the ‘Blocked apps’ tab. It will show you a list of the apps where Grammarly won’t be used. If that list has Microsoft Word, remove it from there. Save the changes and check if Grammarly works in Word.

3) Reopen the file:

If you do not see the Grammarly widget on your Word window, it can be due to that specific word file. Close the file, refresh your desktop, and then open the Word file again. The Grammarly widget should reappear on the screen. Another thing you can try is, copying all the contents of the current file into a new one. Creating a new file can help you workaround whatever problem may be blocking Grammarly. However, this isn’t feasible for documents with more than five thousand words. In that case, try opening a different document. Open a different file and see if the Grammarly widget reappears. If it does, going back to the previous document should fix the problem.

4) Restart your device:

A restart can fix what most troubleshooting methods cannot. There is a reason why restarting a device is the go-to troubleshooting step. Restart your device and check if Grammarly works correctly with Word.
