The latest extraction shooter that features both PvE and PvP elements, Gray Zone Warfare, has been recently released under Steam’s Early Access Program. Well, it is certainly a great time for Gray Zone Warfare to prosper, considering that the Escape from Tarkov team is somewhat delusional, but the persistent errors in the game are a huge setback. From Dx12 issues, to unable to join squad errors, the list of issues in Gray Zone Warfare can be said to be never-ending. But it is an early-access title, so such issues are to be expected. Recently, a few players have reported encountering the grenade bug in the game that soft-locks their characters. So, if you too are encountering a similar issue, this is just the guide you need.
So, basically, the grenade bug occurs when you attempt to throw a grenade in the game. Well, your in-game character will certainly do the animation of throwing the grenade if you hit G+LMB, but it won’t explode as the grenade will disappear. After this, your character will be in a holster position, which means you will not be able to do anything except check your inventory and walk. You can’t reload, jump, change weapons, aim, shoot, and so on. So, this definitely isn’t a situation you would want your character to be in. Well, is there any fix yet for this issue? Gray Zone Warfare Grenade Bug troubling players: Is there any fix yet
As of now, there isn’t an official fix for this issue yet, but as per a player response on the game’s Steam Discussion forum, it is speculated that the developers are aware of this issue, since the bug has been mentioned in the game’s Discord #report-bug channel. So, if the developers are indeed aware of this problem, an official fix will be released soon. Until then, you can try these workarounds:
1) Go back to base and relog
Well, if your character is crippled after throwing a grenade, all you can do now is head over to your base and relog. Well, you can’t get into the heli, so you will have to walk to your base. If you’re not up for it, you can just end deployment. But do note that doing so will result in losing all equipment. It is like starting all over again, but if you want to avoid this bug, refrain from equipping and throwing grenades until the issue is fixed.
2) Drop the Grenade and Pick it up
You will notice that the grenade you threw after which your character was soft-locked is still present in your inventory. As stated earlier, you will be able to access your inventory even if your character can do nothing else. So, head over to your inventory, and drop the grenade. Now, pick it up again, and this should hopefully fix the issue. At least it did for Kaezlo.
For now, these are the only workarounds you can try to get rid of this bug. Since many are positive that the developers are indeed aware of the problem, it is just a matter of time before the issue is fixed. Anyway, we hope that you find this guide informative.
