Restart iMessage:

Apple devices allow its users to toggle certain services on and off. One of those services includes iMessage. Go to Settings > Messages > iMessage. Toggle the button in front of it so it is off. Once it’s off, restart your device and then go to the settings app to turn it on again. Now check if the signed out error on iMessage persists.

Check connectivity:

One of the suggestions from Apple support when facing an issue with iMessage activation or features is to check your internet connectivity. An easy way to verify if your internet is working or not is trying to open other apps on your device. If other apps on your device are finding it difficult to load or buffer a lot often than usual, you should contact your ISP for assistance. They will provide you with the assistance needed to fix your internet connection.

Check timezone:

The Apple support guide also mentions checking the timezone selected on your device. Go to Settings > General > Date & Time. Now select the correct timezone depending on the region you are in. Or just select the option to set time and date automatically. Now check if the iMessage signed out error is fixed. If not, try the next step.

Update OS:

Go to Settings > General > Software update. If your Apple device can be updated, do so. After the update, the signed out error will no longer be a problem on iMessage.

Contact carrier:

This is to confirm that the SMS is available for your connection. If SMS features are unavailable with your plan, get it added and the iMessage issue will be fixed. And when you try sending a message, you will see a pop up saying “Your carrier may charge for SMS messages”. Select “Ok” and continue using iMessage.

Contact support:

If all the troubleshooting methods fail, just contact Apple support. Since none of the troubleshooting methods fixed the problem for you, it is possible that your situation needs professional help.
