The game of the forgotten era of 2000, Jagged Alliance, strikes again after two decades of its first sequel, featuring modern graphics, turn-based tactical moments, and 40 different mercenaries that a player can utilize to their fullest. But the only thing this game doesn’t offer is an easy mode (or so you think). Right from the beginning, it may feel hard to continue your in-game journey if you are not an old Jagged Alliance fan. But you know what? We have something in store for you, and its name is Forgiving Mode. Let’s see what this is.
Forgiving Mode was specially implemented for new players, or we can say who blames the game for being too hard. This mode enables some sort of easier difficulty where you will have all the luck in the world while enemies are more likely to avoid doing big-brain plays. But this option is well hidden in the game, and an average player might not find it on the first try. So we have featured this detailed guide to help you find it. Shall we begin then?
Jagged Alliance 3: How to turn on Forgiving Mode
Forgiving Mode not only lets your enemies take fewer harmful turns, but it also enables you to get more loot and income, which will be helpful in the beginning. You can upgrade your characters faster, while most enemies will feel left behind. Remember that with this setting turned off, enemies scale just as your character gets more skills and damage. Think of it as fair play, where even NPCs receive equal treatment. Well, jokes aside, there are currently two ways to turn it on. Here’s the first one.
While starting a new game
When you opt for a new game, you can also choose to enable Forgiving Mode out of the box. This will remove one headache, that’s for sure. So to do this,
- Launch the game, head to the main menu, and click the Options settings.
- Here, you need to select the Gameplay tab.
- In this tab, you will find the Forgiving Mode option.
- Make sure to turn it On.
Ongoing Campaign
If you are so far ahead in the game’s story that you don’t want to reset your in-game progress to enable this mode, stop worrying. This is because you can enable this mode in the middle of your in-game journey as well. To enable it,
- Press the corresponding Pause (Escape) button on your keyboard/controller to bring up the pause menu of Jagged Alliance 3.
- Now choose the Options setting. Then again, as mentioned in the first method, select the Gameplay tab, where you will find the Forgiving Mode.
- If it is Off, turn it On. However, don’t forget to hit Apply before exiting the menu.
Congrats! You have enabled the easier difficulty. Now, enemies won’t try to obliterate you each time you are in battle. Also, repairing and healing will cost way less than before, and the same goes for the time it took for both of those actions. Finishing missions will also grant more money and rewards that can be used to further enhance your Mercenary squad. But do not think that everything is easy after this option is turned on.
Enemies won’t bite you, at least for now, but they will surely scale slowly but surely. So try to improve your game mechanics and use your money wisely wherever you use it.
