Jodel is a Hyperlocal community app that helps you connect to users around you. The app is described as a live social media platform with happening events, news, humor pieces, and chat. Jodel is a place where you can experience whatever is happening in and outside your community. Jodel chat is one feature that allows you to send a chat request and once it is accepted you can chat with a person.
The app’s users have been complaining of a Jodel chat issue lately. The chat suddenly blacked out and affected users were greeted with a blank screen. Some users also faced a sudden app crash after the blank screen appeared. Here are some methods and fixes for it.
Temporary Loading
On many occasions, the problem is related to a temporary loading issue. This can be solved by merely opening the Recents Window, closing the app, and restarting the app. This might fix the app and the bugged chat.
Turn chat requests on and off
Chat requests are a tricky feature on this app. On the Jodel app, open the Settings (profile icon lower right, then gear icon upper left) to turn off receiving chat requests. Simply use the slider to deactivate chat requests. Then use the same process to turn it back on and restart the app.
Keep Jodel updated
An outdated version of the app also might be the root of such issues being faced. Hence make sure you have the latest version installed. If not, go to the Google Play Store or iOS App Store and update it.
Restart / Reinstall Jodel
Many times the bug is active due to issues persistent to a long session of use. Hence, a simple system restart is required. So, restarting your device is one of the possible solutions which might work. You can also try pressing the power off button for a few seconds and rebooting your device. Now, open the app and check if this worked. If that didn’t work out, try uninstalling the app and reinstalling it. A complete reinstallation may fix the problem.
Clear Cache and Data
Sometimes the cache present in the app’s data is causing such problems. Hence, clearing the cache and saved data of the app helps. For Android, head over to the App List from the Settings app and look for Jodel app on the list. Now, tap on Jodel’s icon and select Clear data > Clear cache. For iOS, open Settings app and navigate to General > iPhone Storage > Jodel > Offload app.
Check if Jodel’s servers are suffering an outage
Make sure that the problem is not with the app itself. Keep an eye on the app’s website or social media channels for maintenance and server outage updates. If the servers are down, wait for the servers to be back up and try again or contact Jodel support for further help.
