For many years, the Logitech G Hub application has been catering to its user base by providing tons of customization options to choose from and creating custom profiles. The application is a must if you have a Logitech peripheral, but it is not without its fair share of issues. Besides the usual mouse not detecting issues in the Logitech G Hub application, it is also known to throw a critical error message to users whenever they try to launch the app. So, if you too have encountered the same, this is just the guide you need to get rid of the problem for good.
Although there isn’t any definite cause for this issue, most believe that it is related to a connected webcam. While we are not quite sure about that, we have shared a few workarounds for you to try, as these are the only options that can help you get access to the application. So, try them out.

Restart
You should begin your troubleshooting journey with a simple restart of your PC, as sometimes a bad boot or conflicting applications can cause this issue. After a restart, check whether the critical error persists. If it does, try the next workaround.
Download the latest versions of mfplat.dll and mrfreadwrite.dll
To fix the issue, you should try downloading the latest version of the .dll files mentioned. You can try manually searching for them or by simply clicking on the given links:
After downloading, extract the contents of the .zip files. Now, access the .exe file of the Logitech G Hub application, and right-click on it. Select the Open File Location option. In the installation directory, paste the .dll files. After this, execute the lghub_agent file found in the same directory. Check whether there are any errors. If not, launch the G Hub application, and you should not encounter the issue again. This workaround worked for a user, Secure_Product2992, so might work for you too.
Disconnect Webcam
As stated earlier, many have speculated that this issue is related to a connected webcam when the Logitech G Hub application is launched. So, we advise that you disconnect such peripherals and only connect your mouse and keyboard before launching the application. This should fix the issue.
End G Hub Process via Task Manager
If you still encounter this issue, consider ending all the G Hub processes via the Task Manager and then launching the application again. To open the Task Manager, press Ctrl+Shift+Esc. Once opened, go to the Processes tab, and right-click on every task related to G Hub. Now, select End Process. After you are done with this, launch the application to check if it works.
Download an older version
Well, many users reported that downloading and installing an older version of the Logitech G Hub application fixed the issue for them. So, why don’t you give this method a try? All you need to do is head over here (third-party webpage) and download one of the older versions of the applications. Once downloaded, install it and then check whether the critical error occurs.
Clean installation
If none of the workarounds were able to help you fix the issue, then it’s time to try the reinstall method. So, start by uninstalling the application from your system. After this, you will need to delete the LGHUB folder from a bunch of directories. These are as follows:
- C:\Program Files
- C:\ProgramData
- C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Local
- C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Roaming
Now, open the Registry Editor on your system by typing regedit in the Windows Search box. In the Registry Editor, go to “HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\”, and delete the following key ” {521c89be-637f-4274-a840-baaf7460c2b2}”. Once done, restart your PC, and then download the latest version of Logitech G Hub. Doing so should fix the issue.
