Restart game and run Steam as admin

To start the troubleshooting process, first, exit the game and make sure it is not running in the background. After this, close Steam as well. Now, right-click on the Steam icon and select the Run as Administrator option. Next, launch the game via Steam to check whether the same issue persists.

Change language

While this workaround might seem unrelated, it has been reported to fix the issue for many. So, basically, what you need to do is change the language setting of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 before launching the game. How? There are two methods. First is to just access Steam, go to Library, and right-click on the game. Next, select Properties and then in the General tab, you will find the option to change language. The next method is to enable the launcher. To do this, head over to the game’s properties menu by following the above-mentioned steps and then in the General tab, enter the “-launcher” command in the Launch Options textbox. Now, whenever you launch the game via Steam, it will first display the game’s launcher, using which you can easily change the language. After changing the language, the issue should be fixed.

Downgrade Game Version

If you think this issue showed up in-game after you updated the game via Steam, then you can try downgrading the game’s version as a workaround to fix the issue. How? Well, a quick online search will be enough to get you acquainted with the process. Once downgraded, you can launch the game to check whether the issue persists.

Disable Antivirus

It is also possible that the antivirus program installed on your system is the reason why the game is unable to access its files. Maybe the antivirus has flagged the game files as a threat. So, to rule out this possibility, consider disabling the antivirus program and then launch the game. If the game runs now, then enable the antivirus again and then add the game’s installation folder to its exceptions list.

Delete Save Files

This issue can also occur if your saved files are corrupted. So, to fix it, you might have to delete your game saves. How? Access the game’s save file location by heading over to this directory: C/Users/Usernamefolder/Documents/Spider-Man 2/[numeric values folder]. Here, delete all the contents or move them to a different directory. After this, launch the game to check whether the issue persists.

Delete the dstorage.dll and dstoragecore.dll files

Some .dll files might be the reason why this issue is occurring. So, you need to head over to the game’s installation directory and delete the files. Once you find them, you need to move them to a different location or simply rename them. After this, save the changes and then launch the game. This might fix the issue.

Reinstall

Finally, you can try reinstalling the game to get rid of any file-related issues that might be hindering the game’s ability to run. Make sure that you install it on an SSD for the best results.

With that, we hope that you find this guide informative. If you did, consider visiting Android Gram for more such interesting guides on all things gaming.
