Swinging through the streets of New York City as the friendly neighborhood Spiderman never gets old, neither in the movies nor in the games. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 by Insomniac Studios has just been released, and the gameplay it features is superior to its predecessor by miles. While it is only a PS5 exclusive for the time being, it won’t take much time for the game to be released on PCs. Insomniac has introduced quite a few new mechanics and options in the game, and one of them is Swing Assist. Well, if you want a hardcore swinging experience in the game, you should know how to disable this feature.
Previous games in the series have always let you swing in style and look damn good doing it. You don’t have to think about when to let go of the webs, when to shoot a new one, or when you’re pushing too far. The game usually handled these tasks itself in the background while you were free to swing around the city and beat up bad guys. This game, however, brings more features to the table for a more hardcore experience.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Swing Assists: How to disable it?
Swing Assist brings a few options that provide authentic swinging mechanics for more complex yet fun gameplay. If the feature is turned on, you won’t have to worry about anything while swinging; however, turning it off brings the real swinging experience into play.
How to lower or turn it off fully?
Disabling swing assists in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is quite an easy process. All you need to do is follow the given steps:
- Go to the in-game Settings menu after pausing.
- Now, find the Gameplay tab, and select it.
- Next, look for the Swing Assists section by scrolling down.
- In this section, you can customize a few options (a total of 4) to your liking.
- After this, save the changes and go back to saving the city.
What are these options for?
In the Swing Assists section, you will find four options:
1). Swing Steering Assistance
This setting deals with how much control you have over where your webs land and how physics affects them. You can customize this setting as per your preference. This makes it possible for you to have more or less control over the swinging mechanics, making the game easier or harder.
2). Web Bending
This setting affects how the web bends when you are applying tension to it (walking on it). This will come into play during situations when you hover above the heads of enemies for vertical takedowns or other actions in missions.
3). Slow Corner Timescale
This feature is responsible for slowing down time when you need to make tight corners. Without this, you will need considerable skill to navigate corners and take tight turns. Turn this setting off for more challenging gameplay; leave it on for a fun experience.
4). Fall Damage
As the name implies, this setting enables or disables the damage taken when you fall from high ground. You can turn this off to make Spiderman invincible to falling, but turning it on will mean you will need to pay attention to elevation, and falls will hurt. A lot.
You can customize these settings at will during any instance of your in-game journey. We recommend gradually turning them off one by one so that you understand the physics of the game better, rather than disabling all of them to give yourself a massive challenge at the start.
