New World is an open-world MMORPG game that has been both developed and published by Amazon Games. This game lands you on the island of Aeternum, where you can engage in battles against other players and also engage in co-op fun. You may think it sounds similar to the Diablo series, and you couldn’t be more right with that. The game also has elements from the usual MMO games, and one such is mounts. Yes, you can ride horses and even lions in this game. But do you know how? If not, continue reading this guide for more details on how to get, use, and unlock mounts in New World.
New World currently has three kinds of mounts: horses, dire wolves, and lions. The horse will be your primary mount at the start of your journey, and the lion is the last mount you will unlock, as you have probably already guessed. So, let’s see how to get them in the game.
New World: How to get, use, & unlock Mounts
Before mounts were introduced in the game, traveling long distances was tedious and boring, although Fast Travel points did exist. However, with the release of the Rise of the Angry Earth expansion, you can get access to the various mounts in the game, provided you have met the prerequisites to get them. Here are all the details:
How do you unlock Horse mount in New World?
There are a few requirements that you must meet before looking for the quest that unlocks your first horse. First, you must have purchased the recently released Rise of the Angry Earth expansion pack for New World. Next, your account level must be 25 or higher. Yes, your current playthrough must have a level of 25 or more. Otherwise, you won’t receive the quest that unlocks your first mount.
After you have reached level 25, you will receive the mount quest called “A Change in the Wild”. You can access it via your Journal. It’ll be in the Everfall area, and you must complete it by talking to an NPC called Jochi Khan. Once this quest is done, the same NPC will give you the second quest called “My Kingdom for a Horse”. You should also complete this quest, and then you will receive your first mount, called Moonshadow. Now that you have successfully unlocked your first mount, simply open your in-game inventory by pressing Tab, and double-click on the token of Moonshadow to unlock it.
How do you use the mount?
After unlocking Moonshadow, exit the inventory page and reopen it. Now you should be able to see a horse icon on the top left side of the screen. Click on it, and then select the horse icon in the new menu once again. Now, you need to select Moonshadow from the list of available mounts and click on the Equip option. You can also rename your mount in this menu.
How do you unlock Dire Wolf and Lion mounts?
Unlocking these mounts will require hours of grinding. There is an account-level requirement for both of them. To unlock the Dire Wolf mount, you must be level 45 or higher, and for the Lion mount, your account level has to be 65 or more. You can’t receive the required quests until your account reaches that level. Now, to get access to these mounts, you will have to progress through the Mount quests. Only after completing all the mount quests for your horse mount will you get access to other mount quests. So, continue progressing, and you will eventually get access to all the mounts in New World.
This was our complete guide on how to unlock and use mounts in New World. Getting the horse mount is easy enough, but the other two mounts require some grinding.
