NHL Network is a sports television network run by the National Hockey League (NHL) and NBC Universal. Apart from Cable TV, NHL also has an app that provides even more features to the fans. Everyone who enjoys watching hockey knows about and uses the app. With the app in the equation, users can watch their favorite game from the device of their choice. This wide array of supported devices also includes the Firestick. And as far as apps go, there can be a few problems here and there. If you have encountered a problem while using the NHL app on your Firestick, try the troubleshooting methods given below.
Steps to fix NHL app not working on Firestick:
1) Restart the device:
Restart your Firestick to reset any system errors in the process. This is the first step recommended by Amazon Support too. To restart your Firestick, press and hold the ‘Play/pause’ button and the ‘Select’ (center navigation) button. You will see the restart message pop up on your screen. Wait for the device to restart, and then try to run the NHL app on your Firestick.

2) Clear app cache and data:
To clear the NHL app cache on your Firestick, follow these steps – Settings > Applications > Manage installed applications > Clear cache. Select clear cache and check if the app is working fine. If not, you can follow the same steps but this time select Clear data. Clearing the app data will remove all your login details. So make sure you know your credentials before doing this step. After clearing the app data, log in and check if NHL has started working on the Firestick.
3) Uninstall and reinstall the app:
If clearing the app data does not do the job, take it a step further and uninstall the application. Reinstall the app and perform the initial setup steps. Carefully pay attention to the permissions the app is seeking on your device. Give it the necessary permissions. This should solve any errors that the NHL app is facing on your Firestick. If this does not solve the problem, try the next step.
4) Test network connection:
An easy way to check if your internet connection is slow, run some other streaming service. Observe carefully and verify if you see similar problems as that of the NHL app. If you do, the problem might be due to a slow internet connection. Perform a quick power cycle on your router or contact your ISP about the situation. When your internet is back to normal, NHL should also start working fine.
5) Lookout for server failures:
Check online forums for server outage information. If the NHL servers are out of order, you might have a hard time trying to watch the game. Outages usually take some time to repair. But don’t worry, as you won’t have to wait a long time before the server is back online.
