Have you ever heard of ghostbusters? Well, these are professionals who claim to be capable of getting rid of ghosts or evil spirits. They investigate paranormal activities and expel the spirits within. This is a profession not many would want to pursue in real life, but can be quite fun in a game. Games like Phasmophobia offer this experience. That said, another equally interesting profession is storm chasing. As a storm chaser, you will have to risk your life to gather data from various storms occurring in an area. That can be quite dangerous in real life, so for people who are curious to experience this feeling, but without any dangers, OUTBRK has been released. It is an online co-op game that also offers single-player gameplay where players are put in real-life weather events across a wide 625 sq. km. map. Well, since you are reading this, it is quite obvious that you have a handheld and are looking for details regarding whether OUTBRK can be played on it. If so, consider reading until the end as we have shared everything you need to know about the Steam Deck, Asus Rog Ally, and Lenovo Legion Go support details of OUTBRK.
Developed and published by Sublime, OUTBRK was released on June 28, 2024, as an early-access title. Ever since the game’s debut, it has managed to attract quite a number of players to its nature-driven world, and for good reason. Featuring a wide range of weather conditions across the huge map and a healthy challenge between other chasers, the in-game experience can get intense with time. From customizing your vehicles to upgrading or even buying new ones, the gameplay is very immersive. That said, if the game offers handheld compatibility, that’s a cherry on top. So, let’s get right into the details.

Steam Deck
As of now, OUTBRK hasn’t been listed as a Playable or Verified title for the Steam Deck. But that doesn’t mean that the game is not Steam Deck compatible. In fact, it can be played on the handheld with ease. In response to player queries regarding the game’s Steam Deck compatibility, ETXBONES, one of the game developers, stated the following:
We actually tested a bit on Steam deck – on Low preset, it played pretty well for the two/three players that tested and we expect it to improve over time.
We’d love your feedback on your experience though!
So, from this, it is quite obvious that compatibility isn’t an issue while running OUTBRK on the Deck. But what about performance? Well, this is where the game currently lacks a bit. Considering that it is still in early access and lacks proper optimizations, the game’s performance on the Deck hasn’t been very good. On the lowest possible settings, you should get close to 25–40 FPS in-game, and that takes a huge dip if Medium or High Preset is selected. The same has been shared by another game dev, marcrem:
So here’s what our guy with a steam deck said:
So on the Low preset the game runs really well. There are pretty common freezes while driving really fast though. The game will freeze up entirely for about 3-5 seconds then you’ll be back to normal. So I’d say a consistent 25-40fps, though I don’t have a tracker for that. On the Medium preset the game immediately becomes unplayable. 10-15fps maybe. The controls themselves are pretty smooth, though sprinting is a little wonky. I think with some improved optimization the game could run really well on Medium settings in the future. I’d also really love to see the ability to change graphics settings while on controller. Not everyone is gonna have the ability to plug in a mouse and keyboard to make those changes. And the default graphics setting is Fantastic, which is impossible to play on, so Deck players will be screwed unless they have a way to plug in a KBM to change settings. My only other big concern for the Deck is that games take a very long time to load. Even in Offline mode with the lowest settings it took somewhere between 3-5 minutes to load in.
We’re gonna constantly optimize the game so I’m guessing it will get better with time. Just thought I’d get back to you with this honest answer 🙂
Thankfully, due to the availability of controller support, the Deck’s controller inputs work quite well in the game. Anyway, if you own a Steam Deck, feel free to give OUTBRK a try, but be mindful to select the lowest settings for optimal gameplay.
Asus Rog Ally and Lenovo Legion Go
Unlike the Deck, these handhelds are somewhat better equipped when it comes to hardware which is why we believe that you should easily get close to 40–45 FPS in-game in OUTBRK while playing it on the Asus Rog Ally, and Lenovo Legion Go. Since they are Windows-based handhelds, you don’t have to worry about compatibility issues either.
