Palia is an open-world MMO inspired by the likes of Stardew Valley and Animal Crossing. Like these monumental titles, it doubles as an RPG and an idle life sim with multiple activities you can choose from. It is also a multiplayer game, increasing its likeness to a life simulator. It does have the typical RPG grinding mechanics, however. These mechanics include hunting for resources, bugs, fish, and more. and All of these are directly related to the activities you can perform in the game.
Much of Palia takes place around these activities, in addition to your basic quests. The game progresses at a leisurely pace and has you dabble in all of these activities to earn money/gold. This money/gold is what you use to upgrade/repair the various tiers of tools and weapons. Anyway, to earn gold from bug-catching tasks, you might need to go and find the multiple specimens the game has to offer. In this article, we are going to walk you through how to get one of them, the Garden Mantis.
Palia Garden Mantis: How to get, find, & catch?
The Garden Mantis is an insect. This is found in-game at various locations. It can be caught as part of your bug-trapping activities. It is possible to catch this insect with your makeshift bug belt and standard smoke bombs. Since you get the Makeshift Bug Belt quite early in the game, catching this insect won’t be too difficult. The larger issue here is spotting and trailing it before catching it.
The Garden Mantis is a small mantis that happens to be green in color. This color makes it perfectly camouflaged in the grass around where it is found. Spotting this little thing, then, can be quite hard. Once you spot it, you have to keep in mind that they are very alert. Small movements will alert them, and they will hop away from the source of the movement. Additionally, they are very skittish creatures, and you will have to be close to them to deploy the smoke bomb and catch them.
When and where to find them?
Unlike some insects in-game, they can be found at any time of the day. Their preferred location is along the coastline. They can be found around the lakes in the starting location in-game, Kilima Valley. Here are some locations where the Garden Mantis spawns:
- Whispering Banks
- Fisherman’s Lagoon
- Remembrance Beach
- Gillyfin Cove
- Leafhopper Hills
So, visit these locations, head to the coastline, and look for them. Once found, equip Standard Smoke bombs or Sticky Smoke bombs and throw them at the insect. After enough throws, the insect will be caught. However, they don’t seem to be worth much since they are so common. You can easily sell the base version for about 36 Gold in the game. But the quality/star version nets you around 54 Gold when caught. This makes it somewhat worthwhile to hunt and farm for gold. That said, we hope you find this guide informative.
