This city builder is an interesting change from the traditional mechanic of buying land and expanding. Here, you actually have to make alliances and explore the region to discover what lies in wait for you and how to exploit it. However, the main question the community has for the developers is whether the game will ever be available on Xbox and PlayStation consoles. Well, with the recent release, the developers of the game have made their intentions very clear that they are primarily focusing on a PC release for Pioneers of Pagonia. However, the genre and overall aesthetics of this game make it appealing to console players. So they want to know whether there are any plans for a console release.

Xbox and PlayStation in general have a lot of titles from indie developers. Certain categories of games, like City Builders and Strategy games, also often make their way to consoles much later. This is likely because of the time taken to develop them or the issues with porting them over. While AAA studios are most active when porting a game to multiple platforms, indie developers usually don’t offer their games on multiple platforms. Why? Well, their limited resources and possible lack of demand for the game don’t make it feasible to port. But what about Envision Entertainment, the developers of Pioneers of Pagonia?
Xbox and PS Release?
According to the FAQ page of the official website of the game, releasing Pioneers of Pagonia on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One is not a priority for the developers. They have stated that they have no plans to work on the console version of the game just yet. Understandably, since the game is only in early access, they will first analyze the demand for the game and then think about porting it to consoles if it’s feasible. While their statement does mean that the game is primarily a PC-exclusive title, it does not mean it won’t be released on consoles either.
Since they don’t have any plans on working towards a console version of the game right now, we cannot share any expected release date for it. But we are expecting that after the game’s full release, which is expected to be at least 6 months from now, the developers will break the silence on this matter. Indie developers often take the time to consider the cost/benefit of releasing a title on multiple platforms. If there is a good interest in the game and it is financially viable, they might consider releasing it on consoles too.
