Fixes for PS Remote Play app not working:
Preventive measures:
There are some things that you need to look out for or rather make sure to have a smooth experience with the PS Remote Play app.
1) Make sure that broadcasting or streaming on your console is turned off.
2) Check the description of the game you are trying to play to be certain that the game supports remote play.
3) When players launch Media app and Disc player, remote play cannot be accessed.
4) See to it that your console is turned on or in rest mode. This is the only way to access remote play without any problems.
5) And lastly, check if remote play is enabled. Players may forget to perform obvious steps when excited about playing a game.
Check internet connection:
According to the Playstation support page, it is mandatory to first check your internet connection. And it is justified since the entire setup for remote play through the PS app depends on a strong internet connection. Hence, open other apps on your device to make sure that your internet is working. If you find out otherwise, contact your ISP to know if there is a problem at their end. You can ask them for assistance if you think there is something wrong with your internet connection. Also, confirm with them that your network isn’t blocking the UDP port 8572, which is used to connect a PS5 or PS4 console to a mobile.
Update System software:
It is also recommended to keep the console software updated at all times. An update makes it so that there is nothing wrong with the services being provided to you. Click here for all the instructions regarding the installation of the latest firmware build for your console.
Things to check with the app:
Firstly, restart the app on your device to check if that helps. If not, check if there is an update available for the app. Open the store and look for the app. If it can be updated, you will be notified. And lastly, reinstall the app. Uninstall the PS remote play app from your device and install it again. After the reinstallation, set it up and observer its performance.
Link manually:
Lastly, if the host and client devices fail to link automatically, a manual link should help. If you have a PS5 console, go to Settings > System > Remote Play > Link device. And if you have a PS4 console, go to Settings > Remote Play connection settings > Add device. After this, a number will appear on your screen. Enter this number in the PS remote play app on the client device to connect it with your console.
