After a long wait of over 14 years, the title that paved the road for Rockstar’s one of the best RPGs has finally made its way to the PC platform. Red Dead Redemption 1 is the classic open-world RPG that features the story of John Marston. It is this game that pushed Rockstar to developer Red Dead Redemption 2, and we all know what it has achieved since its release. While RDR2 was available on almost all popular platforms, including PC, its predecessor, RDR, was a console-exclusive title, until Oct 28, 2024. On Oct 29, 2024, the game along with its zombie-horror counterpart, named Undead Nightmare made its way to the PC platform, via Steam, and for obvious reasons, many would want to know about its compatibility details with devices like the Steam Deck, Asus Rog Ally, and Lenovo Legion Go. If you too are wondering the same, consider reading this article until the end for more information.

Unlike the console-exclusive version of Red Dead Redemption, the PC release includes a ton of new features that are quite basic in 2024. These are HDR lighting, native 4K resolution at up to 144 Hz refresh rate, Ultrawide (21:9) and Super Ultrawide (32:9) support, adjustable draw distances, shadow quality settings, and more. These features make the game’s experience on a PC far more customizable and unique but don’t expect the game’s graphics to be on par with games released today. That said, the game’s PC system requirements are not quite high, making it suitable for handhelds. But what’s the real scenario? Is the game supported by handhelds?

Steam Deck

As of now, Red Dead Redemption is neither listed as Playable nor Verified for the Steam Deck. This might be due to the fact that the game has been recently released, and Valve hasn’t tested it out yet. The successor of RDR, RDR 2 is a Playable title on the Steam Deck, which is why RDR receiving the playable tag in the future won’t be a surprise. But that is all about official details. What about player reports? Well, the good news is that the game runs pretty well on the Steam Deck, as confirmed by many. Coming to settings, you can customize them as per your liking, but expect around 40-50 FPS in-game on the Deck. Even better is that the game offers full controller support, which makes using the Deck’s controller pretty straightforward.

Lenovo Legion Go and Asus Rog Ally

Well, if you have any of the two handhelds, you shouldn’t worry about a PC game’s compatibility with these devices. Since these devices run Windows OS, any game that runs on a PC can be played on these handhelds; the only thing to worry about is performance. But unlike other resource-hungry titles, RDR is a fairly old game that doesn’t require much resources to run, making it a perfect choice for Legion Go and Rog Ally users. You should get close to 60 or even more than 60 FPS in-game if you use the right settings.

That said, now you know all about the compatibility details of Red Dead Redemption 1 with devices such as the Steam Deck, Asus Rog Ally, and Lenovo Legion Go. If you find this article informative, consider visiting Android Gram for more such interesting content on a daily basis.
