Steam Deck stuck on shutting down Steam Fixes & Workarounds

Imagine you are just shutting down your Deck after a hectic session and suddenly you realize that it has been more than a few minutes since the shutdown began. Now, you try to press a random button out of frustration but nothing happens. This can really ruin your Deck experience, right? Well, this phenomenon is actually happening with a lot of Deck users. This is creating chaos in the Deck community as Steam Deck normally does not come across such an error. But it is also true that no one is perfect and every piece of electronic item comes with its own imperfections. However, rather than sitting down and worrying about the problem, try a few fixes suggested by us before asking for official help.

1) Perform a force restart:

The first thing you need to do is perform a force reboot of your Steam Deck. This is important because Steam Deck can be suffering from an internal problem and forcing a restart might help the Deck to override it completely. So, after performing a force restart, wait for your Deck to boot again.

2) Let the battery drain out:

The second step may take a bit of time, but considering the intensity of the problem, it is worth giving a try. So, all you have to do is wait for the Steam Deck to run out of battery. Once the battery runs out, connect the charger and charge it completely. Now, try to boot your device normally.

3) Reset Steam Deck:

Get a USB drive with a minimum of 8 GB storage. Now, using software like Rufus Utility on Windows or Balena Etcher on Linux OS, select the recovery file and write it to your USB drive. After this, plug in the USB drive to your Deck through an adapter. Now, press the volume down button and power button together for a few seconds until you hear a beep. From here, boot your Steam Deck through the USB device. After you enter the desktop environment, select the “Reset/Re-image” option on your Deck.

By following these steps, you will be able to get over the shutdown error on your device. For more updates in the world of tech and gaming, do not forget to visit Androidgram.
