The Rogue Prince of Persia is the new roguelike platformer that made its debut on May 27, 2024. The game offers a unique adventure in the PoP universe, where you, the protagonist, have to find a way to save Persia from a Hun invasion that involves dark magic. You will be traversing a 2D world filled with dangerous creatures, and this is just the beginning. Featuring satisfying combat scenes, the game’s overall setting is quite immersive and fun. But, the fun hasn’t lasted long for many players, as they have reported encountering frequent stuttering and low FPS issues in the game. So, if you too are encountering the same issue, consider reading this guide until the end for details regarding whether there is a fix for it.
Being a roguelike adventure, one would expect The Rogue Prince of Persia to be able to run without any problems on medium to high-end PCs. The game’s system requirements are also quite low, which further paints the same picture. However, reality is a bit different, as its performance isn’t what anyone would have expected. So, is there a fix for this issue?

The Rogue Prince of Persia Stuttering & low FPS issues troubling players: Is there any fix yet
Well, with the overwhelming number of reports from players encountering the stuttering and low FPS issues, one of the game developers responded to this problem via a Steam discussion post, stating the following:
Hello! We’re investigating the issue with stuttering that’s been reported, and it seems to be a tricky one.
Could everyone experiencing this issue please send us a copy of their player.log file? This file is located in AppData\LocalLow\EvilEmpire\The Rogue Prince of Persia (Press Windows+R and paste the path).
The more we can get, the better. It will help us a lot in our investigation. Thanks everyone!
So, it seems that the developers are indeed aware of the problem and are currently investigating it. Given the complex nature of the issue, we think it will take some time for them to figure out a fix for it. To further facilitate the process, you can send the log files of the game. Anyway, until an official fix is released, here are some workarounds worth trying:
1) Restart game and PC
Although this seems pretty generic, sometimes a restart might be all you need to get rid of issues like this. So, we recommend you restart the game and then your PC to check if the issue persists. If it does, switch to the next workaround.
2) Disable VSync
Next, you can try lowering the in-game settings to check if the stuttering issues persist. Since this issue is related to optimization, we don’t think it can be fixed by lowering the in-game graphics setting, but a player did mention that disabling VSync got rid of all the FPS drops. So, give this a try.
3) Set as High Priority
As mentioned by GPandora on Steam, you can set the game’s priority to high via the Task Manager to get rid of the stuttering the low FPS issues in the game. To do so, launch the game, then open the Task Manager, and go to the Processes tab. Now, right-click on the game’s process and select Priority>High. After this, switch to the game window and check if the stuttering persists.
4) Disable Controller Vibration
A player shared that the issue could be related to controller vibrations. So, what they did is disable controller vibrations, after which the issue disappeared. So, we suggest you give it a try as well. If you are using a PS or Xbox Controller, you can visit the companion applications of these controllers to disable vibrations.
5) Run game on dedicated GPU
It is possible that if you are using a laptop to play the game, it is running on the integrated GPU (iGPU) rather than the powerful dedicated one. So, to make sure this isn’t the case, go to the Graphics Settings option via Windows Settings, and select the Browse option. Now, find and add the game’s .exe to the list. After this, select the Options button on the game’s title and choose the High Performance option. Once done, launch the game, and check if the issue persists.
6) Check for recent updates
Since the developers are aware of this problem and are working on a fix, be on the lookout for any recent updates released. It is possible that the developers will release a performance-oriented update for the game as soon as possible. So, once that goes live, download and install the update and then launch the game.
7) Verify Game Files
Although not common, stuttering issues can be the result of corrupt files too. So, you can use Steam’s verification feature to make sure that isn’t the case. To do this, open the Steam client, and go to Library. Now, right-click on The Rogue Prince of Persia, and select the Properties option. After this, go to the Installed Files tab, and select the Verify Game Files option. Once the scan is complete, launch the game and check if the stuttering continues.
8) Reinstall
If all else fails, then the final workaround worth trying is to just perform a full reinstall. So, first, uninstall the game, make sure that no residual files are present on your PC, and then install it again. After this, the stuttering or low FPS issues should no longer persist.
Well, for now, these are the only workarounds you can try to get rid of the stuttering and low FPS issues in the game. However, rest assured that the developers are working towards fixing it, so expect a patch update soon. Anyway, we hope that you find this guide helpful.
