Zelda Tears of the Kingdom (ToTK): How to get Dusk Claymore

Thyphlo Ruins Side Quest

The first step to acquiring the Dusk Claymore is to start a challenging side quest. Start from Central Hyrule and head north to the Thyphlo Ruins. It is located beyond the Great Hyrule Forest, on the other side of Lake Mekar. The Ruins also contain a Skyview Tower so make sure to unlock it for fast travel. Here are the coordinates to the Thyphlo Ruins Skyview Tower (0344, 3142, 0174). You can easily identify the Thyphlo Ruins as it is an island surrounded by a lake.

Once there, look for a cooking pot and a small tent placed beside it. Here are the coordinates (0374, 3098, 0175). Talk to Kazul, an NPC standing beside the tent. This will start the “Investigate The Thyphlo Ruins” side adventure. Well, you will find yourself standing in front of 4 slates. Interact with each slate to acquire all 4 riddles namely, Wind Sage riddle, Fire Sage Riddle, Water Sage riddle, and Lighting Sage riddle. This will start 4 additional side adventures.

Note: Make sure that you have all 4 Sages with you.

Wind Sage Riddle

From the cooking pot, walk a few steps to the south of the ruins till you arrive at the coordinates (0363, 3061, 0174). Stand in front of the giant square-shaped stone plate and use the Wind Sage’s ability (Gust) to blow air on the square plate. The square plate rises revealing its true nature, which is an altar containing a treasure chest. The chest contains 3 Sapphires.

Fire Sage Riddle

For this riddle, head west until you arrive at the coordinates (0219, 3121, 0174). Standing in front of the narrow passage, use the Fire Sage’s ability to emit a rolling ball of fire through the passage. This will unlock the square-shaped stone plate containing a treasure chest. This chest contains 3x Ruby.

Bonus: While you’re here, read this article to learn how to get and find the Skyward Sword Armor set in Zelda ToTK.

Water Sage Riddle

From the Fire Sage riddle passageway, walk just a few steps north until you come across 6 distinguished-looking rocks. Here are the coordinates (0185, 3181, 0174). Use the Water Sage’s ability, charge your weapon, and spurt water on the rocks. This will unlock the square-shaped stone altar, containing a third treasure chest. This chest contains 5x Opal.

Lightning Sage Riddle

Once again, start from the cooking pot and this time head east to the coordinates (0468, 3081, 0175). Use the Lightning Sage’s ability while facing the square-shaped stone plate. Draw your bow and shoot an arrow at the stone plate. As soon as the lightning strikes the plate, it will unlock and reveal the altar containing the treasure chest. This chest contains 3x Topaz.

That completes all 4 Sage side adventures.

Obtain the Dusk Claymore

You might think “But you promised to get the Dusk Claymore, not some gemstones”. Well, completing the above riddles are mandatory to unlock the claymore. When you complete the 4th riddle (in any order), a giant structure will rise from beneath the ground. Head to that structure located at the coordinates (0415, 3158, 0174). Inside the structure, there is a path that leads to a room underground. Inside the room, turn right and you will find a chest containing the Dusk Claymore. After collecting the Dusk Claymore, head back and turn right to the slate. Interact with it and that will complete the Investigate The Thyphlo Ruins side quest.
