If your controller got disconnected the moment you connected your headset to your console or PC during Battlefield 2042’s beta phase, it was just another bug awaiting a fix. The bug was quite annoying and amusing at the same time. It was almost like your controller had taken a strong dislike to your headset for some reason. The problem could be solved by connecting your headset directly to the controller. But, players didn’t want such a fix for an obvious reason. The predecessors of Battlefield 2042 were known to face horrible bug situations during launch. Players are worried that Battlefield 2042 wouldn’t be any different. The beta phase wasn’t at all smooth for the first-person shooter. The known issues/bugs ranged from server bottlenecks to notorious error messages and random lags. The controller getting disconnected whenever trying to connect a headset issue is similar to the main screen freeze bug and the controller disconnected error we wrote about earlier. So, the fix is going to remain the same: don’t connect your headset directly to your Xbox. But why would players have to compromise? It’s a bug, and players deserve a fix.
A lot of gamers playing Battlefield 2042 use mixer amplifiers to enhance the audio quality. The mix amp needs to be connected to the headset through the 3.5 mm connector, so players have to directly connect the headset to the console using a USB connector. This is where the bug plays its role. Basically, the bug will not let you connect anything directly to your console/PC’s USB ports except one controller. Again, this issue is prevalent mostly in Xbox, as far as reports are concerned. However, there were a few similar reports for the PC platform when players used the USB ports of the PC to connect their headset. Surprisingly, we haven’t come across any report of the bug in Play Station platforms.
The bug may be related to the type of USB ports used by the manufacturers. But, it doesn’t matter. DICE will have to address the issue, whatever be the reason, by the official launch so that Xbox and PC users can play Battlefield 2042 in peace. But, is one month enough to patch up the open beta mess and release a bug-free Battlefield 2042? We will have to see.
