Facebook Messenger

Want to deactivate Facebook but keep using its popular messaging app, Messenger? As you may already know, Facebook offers a lot of flexible options for its user base. Be it e-commerce, gaming, or just plain social media, you can have it all on Facebook. It’s a complete platform for existing friends and family and even to connect with new people around the globe. However, sometimes a massive platform like Facebook can get a bit overwhelming. Especially for peeps who find it hard to manage procrastination.

Social Media is a known cause of the dreaded procrastination among young and mature adults. And when a social media app offers so many features, it can get very distracting. As a result, many of you may have thought of deactivating your Facebook account. But at times, you would want to keep the basic and useful features of the platform. Why deactivate the ability to message your friends easily? To tackle this situation, Facebook had introduced the separation of Facebook‘s functioning from that of its online messaging service.

Facebook Messenger

Messenger was available as an independent app for iOS and Android since 2011. In 2014, Messenger was completely removed from the Facebook app and was now only available as a standalone app. It is loaded with many interesting features, everything we would want in a modern online chat service. You can send pictures, videos, emojis, gifs, and voice/video call your friends or family. Additionally, there’s a bot service that automates some features. You can even send your friends an in-chat game challenge! Again, Messenger can be pretty distracting too.

Is it possible to deactivate Facebook but not Messenger in 2022?

Yes, it is still possible to deactivate Facebook and keep Messenger in 2022. You can easily sign into Messenger using the same email ID/mobile number and password you used for Facebook. Just download the Messenger app and sign in. However, you cannot sign up for or sign in to Messenger without a Facebook account. So, deleting your FB account will also delete your Messenger account.

All features of Messenger will be available even if Facebook is deactivated. Note that signing into Messenger will not reactivate your Facebook account. Facebook’s Messenger is actually very useful and fun to use online messaging platform. Using it responsibly should not interfere with your life. However, it is always advisable to use any social media platform wisely.
