Fixes for GoPro Hero 9 not connecting to PC:
1) Select the correct preference:
When you connect the GoPro Hero 9 to your PC, you will be asked about the type of device you want to recognize it as. Select the device type depending on what you plan to do. This goes for your PC. On your GoPro, go to Preferences > Connections > USB connection. There, select MTP if you want to use the camera just for file transfer, and select GoPro connect if you plan on using it as a webcam. This will clear out the preferences and easily connect the camera with your PC.
2) Check for loose connections:
Check if the USB cable is plugged all the way in on both ends. If either of the ends is connected loosely, your PC will fail to detect the device. If the USB connection is tight and secure, move on to the next step.
3) Check for visible damage:
The next most probable culprit for the problem can be damaged devices. The two most important things you need to check are the cable and the SD card in the GoPro. Check for visible damage on both of them. Replace the cable immediately if you find any signs of damage. That will be enough to solve the connectivity problem between the GoPro Hero 9 and your PC. However, a problem with the SD will have to be taken care of differently. Seek help from someone to check if the information on the SD card can be extracted. You would be lucky if things go your way.
4) Restart computer:
Perform a quick restart on your computer. Restarting your PC will fix the minor errors in the system. Connect the GoPro Hero 9 to your PC again. This time everything will go smoothly.
5) Use an SD card reader:
If you happen to have an SD card reader with you, you can work around this problem easily. Connect the SD card directly to your computer instead of wasting time fixing the camera connection. Of course, this is only helpful if you want to transfer the files to the device. However, if you plan on using the GoPro Hero 9 as a webcam on your PC, this won’t work for you.
I hope these troubleshooting steps helped you connect your GoPro Hero 9 with your PC easily!
