If there are any great space shooters out there, it’s definitely Rockfish Games’ Everspace 2. Starting out as an early access title on Steam, the game was finally released on April 6, 2023. Available for Windows, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, Everspace 2 received very positive reviews from both critics and fans alike, with some even referring to it as the best space shooter title in recent years. With such a positive reception for the game, it’s only evident that fans would want to know when the next entry in the series will arrive.
While there have been a lot of space-related games released in recent years, only a handful of them can be considered excellent. Starfield was a disappointment for many, and no one really knows when Star Citizen is supposed to be released at this point. While Everspace 2 is not without fault, it’s certainly one of the best space games right now. And now fans want to know when they will get to play the next evolution of the series. So, let’s go ahead and find out all about that.
Everspace 3 Release Date: When it will be available
At the time of publishing this, developer and publisher Rockfish Games haven’t made any announcements regarding the release of Everspace 3. And we are quite confident that fans will have to wait a while before getting any information on the development of Everspace 3.
Well, one of the main reasons why we are of the opinion that Everspace 3 wouldn’t be out for a while is because Rockfish hasn’t stopped supporting Everspace 2. Currently, the developers are migrating Everspace 2 to UE5 which will arrive as a free update for players in Spring 2024. While we don’t know what the developers are planning for Everspace 2 post the UE5 update, it’s likely that they will start working on a DLC for the game instead of starting development on Everspace 3.
If Everspace 3 is indeed in development, then it’s more than likely that Rockfish will release a Kickstart for it, just like they did for Everspace 2. Furthermore, it is also not entirely out of the realm of possibility that, rather than fully releasing Everspace 3 outright, Rockfish will instead release the game as an early access, similar to how Everspace 2 was developed.
Release Date (Speculation)
If we go by the release date gap between the two Everspace games, it took Rockfish about 5 years to fully release Everspace 2. And by that metric, players would likely see the release of Everspace 3 either in 2028 or later. But this is all just speculation here, so take all this with a great deal of salt.
