Ark Survival Ascended is finally out as an early-access game for PC. There are many changes that have been made to the game to make it easier to play, but at the same time, it has many of the same issues as the previous game. Among the most notable changes are a new ping system, some changes to creature taming like the Oviraptor, and the inclusion of new berries for dyes. So, how do you craft dye, then? Keep reading, and you’ll find out how.
There are many new changes made to ASA that make a very familiar game feel very different. These changes, some of them good, some of them bad, make ASA feel entirely different for almost everyone who plays it. In addition to improved graphics, the developers have also removed map-related updates (we assume they will be included later). Anyway, coming back to the topic, crafting dyes in the game can be done easily if you know the right steps.
Ark Survival Ascended (ASA) Dye: How to get, craft, & use?
Dyes have been in Ark since the game came out. They are essentially paints that you can use (with a paintbrush) to paint your equipment, armor, saddles, and everything else. This brings in a level of customization and can even help you differentiate between items in your tribe. Their use is an interesting touch in a game otherwise about survival and exploration. You can even paint the many trophies you collect during your time in Ark. In the original game, Dyes used to be berries or meat combined with other elements, but that has changed in ASA.
How to make dye?
Dye is now made from specific berries in Ark Survival Ascended. They can be crafted via the Cooking pot or the Industrial Cooker (where their recipes are also shown). These recipes are the way you make these dyes, and you will need the exact quantity to make 1 unit of dye. This is important to note since dye is a single-use item. Once you paint one part with it, you use 5 units of it.
We recommend that you head into the settings of your cooking pot and disable autocrafting. This is so you can choose the type of dye you want to make. If you don’t disable it, as soon as you add ingredients, it will start crafting. This will make sure you can browse the dye menu and choose what you want. Keep in mind that the cooking pot also needs water and fuel. Wood is an excellent fuel for this purpose, and water can be brought from rivers using water jars.
