Ark Survival Ascended (ASA): How to get & find Dung Beetle
Get Medium or Large Animal Feces
Taming a dung beetle requires you to feed it animal poop. This is basically the poop of other dinosaurs. You can either look for big dinosaurs like Brontosaurus and then wait until they poop. Or just feed your tamed beast and wait until their digestive system does the work for you. It doesn’t matter how you gather it; just make sure that you have at least one for taming your dung beetle.
The Volcano Cave & other locations
Now that you have the right item, you will need to head over to the Volcano Cave area. The map has no markings on it, so it won’t be easy to find this cave. But you have us, so just head over to these coordinates: 40.2, 46.1, and look around the summit of a mountain. You will see a cave that will lead deeper into a cave system. But make sure that you have enough firepower and a good mount before heading in. A dire wolf is a good pick since it’s just the right size. Once you enter the cave, continue forward, and eventually you will come across a bunch of dung beetles. You will also face monsters like female Pulmonoscorpius and Arthros, so be careful. Anyway, these beetles are also spawned in the following locations:
- Hunter Cave (85.1, 54.2)
- Carno Island Cave (8.8, 91.4)
Enter the cavern
Now that you are prepared, just head into the cave and look around. These dung beetles are usually hanging around pillars or tight spots in the wall. Be vigilant. Once you spot a dung beetle, just go near it and feed them medium or large animal feces. Then give them a name and carry them out of the cave. Dung beetles aren‘t aggressive, so avoid damaging them with tranquilizer guns or anything else. You can then place them inside a cage in your base, and get access to unlimited fertilizer.
