That’s where we come into the picture. Keep reading the article to learn about the best way to tame a Megaloceros with almost no effort.
ARK Survival Evolved Megaloceros Taming Guide: How to get it?
1) Preparation Phase
Jumping right into the meat of the topic, you need a saddle to ride this creature. Secondly, you need a Bola to immobilize the Megaloceros. Lastly, make sure you have at least one Longneck Rifle (Tranquilizer Dart) in your inventory. If you don’t have a rifle, you can also use Crossbows with tranquilizer arrows. To tame the creature, you need taming food. For the Megaloceros, Simple Kibble works best, so make sure to stock up on as many of these as you can.
2) Where to find a Megaloceros?
Finding a Megaloceros can be tricky if you don’t have much experience with the ins and outs of the game. The Megaloceros, much like many creatures such as the Gigantopithecus, can be found in the forests of The Island, especially in the Redwood Forests. Before you proceed, make sure that the surrounding area is clear of other enemies, as the last thing that you want is another creature catching you off-guard while you’re busy taming the Megaloceros.
3) Immobilize the Megaloceros
Once you locate a Megaloceros, crouch and walk toward the creature to make sure that you don’t scare it. When you’re close enough, equip your Bola and hurl it toward the animal. That should immobilize it.
4) Tranquilize the Megaloceros
With the Megaloceros immobilized, you can equip the longneck rifle with tranquilizer shots to slowly torpor the creature. Alternatively, you can achieve the same result using a crossbow. Make sure to shoot the Megaloceros in the head to quicken the process because the Megaloceros can break free from the bola in due time, and when that happens, it’s going to run away as far as possible. Once you’ve shot it with enough darts, it will eventually faint. With the Megaloceros passed out, quickly surround the creature with spiked walls to prevent other creatures from getting close to it.
5) Feed taming food to the Megaloceros
Now’s the moment you’ve been waiting for. After you’ve surrounded the Megaloceros with spiked walls, it’s time to feed it. Approach the unconscious Megaloceros, and you will get the “Put food in inventory to tame” option. Now you can either wait for the creature to starve and then drop the food, or you can drop it anytime. Open your inventory and put all the Simple Kibbles you have into the creature’s inventory. That will initiate the taming process. Now, you only have to play the waiting game.
After the taming progress bar has been filled, you will get an option to name the Megaloceros. Go ahead give it a catchy name, place the saddle on the creature, and remove the spiked walls to avoid it getting injured.
How to craft the saddle to ride the Megaloceros?
Before being able to craft the saddle, make sure that you’re at least level 30. The Smithy can craft the saddle for you, given that you provide it with the correct crafting materials. The crafting materials for the Megaloceros saddle are Fiber x110, Hide x200, and Metal Ingot x5.
