An FPS action role-playing video game, also known as a shooter RPG, is a genre of video games that combines elements of first-person shooters and RPGs. Atomic Heart Crashing at Launch: How to fix it
1) Restart the game and your system:
To address the problem, it is suggested that you restart both the Atomic Heart game and your PC, as this will refresh the system and game cache data. This simple step may help to resolve the issue and is recommended for troubleshooting purposes.
2) Verify game files:
For those who have been playing games on their PC, it is possible that certain game files may become corrupted or go missing, leading to issues with launching the game. To address this, it is recommended that you verify and repair the installed game files on your PC using the following steps:
- Open the Steam client and select “Library”.
- Right-click on Atomic Heart from the list of installed games.
- Click on “Properties” and go to the “Local Files” tab.
- Click on “Verify Integrity of Game Files”.
- Wait for the repair process to complete.
3) Whitelist the game in Windows Firewall:
To reduce the occurrence of crashes and errors, you can whitelist the Atomic Heart game program in Windows Firewall. To do so, open the Control Panel, go to Windows Firewall, select “Allow an app,” click “Allow another app,” select the Atomic Heart program, and add it to the allowed list.
4) Update Windows and graphics driver on your system
To ensure your PC is running the latest version of Windows, open Windows Settings using the Win+I keys, go to “Windows Update,” and click “Check for updates.” If an update is available, click “Download and Install” and wait for the process to complete. Restart your PC to apply the changes.

6) Execute a clean boot for Windows
To increase system performance, perform a clean boot on your Windows machine to disable startup apps and hide all Microsoft services from the system. Open System Configuration by pressing the Win+R keys, select Hide all Microsoft services in Services, then Disable all. Click Apply and OK to save changes, then select the high-impact tasks in Startup and disable them.
7) Disable every overlay application

- To disable the Xbox Game Bar, press Win+I, go to Gaming, select Game Bar, and turn off the Record game clips, screenshots, and broadcast using the Game bar option.
- In order to disable the Nvidia GeForce Experience Overlay, open the Nvidia GeForce Experience app, select General, and disable the In-Game Overlay option.
- To disable the Steam Overlay, open Steam, right-click on the game, select Properties, choose General, and turn off the Enable the Steam Overlay while in-game option.
8) Check system requirements

9) End any unnecessary task running in the background
To reduce game crashes, lags, stutters, and other related issues, it might help to close unnecessary background running tasks in your system. To do this, open the Task Manager by pressing Ctrl+Shift+Esc, go to the Processes tab, and check which tasks consume higher resources like CPU or Memory. Select the specific task that is not necessary and click on End Task to close it forcefully. Repeat this process for each third-party task consuming higher resources. After ending these tasks, restart your PC to apply the changes.
10) Disable fullscreen optimizations
Disabling fullscreen optimizations for Atomic Heart may help to resolve gameplay and startup crashes. To do so, right-click on the game shortcut on the desktop or the .exe file in the installation folder, select Properties, click on the Compatibility tab, and check the box next to “Disable fullscreen optimizations”.
