How to use a Rope in Baldur's Gate 3

Baldur’s Gate 3 has many interesting game mechanics, inspired by the D&D universe. Also, it has quite a few new ones, like non-lethal attacks, which stop you from killing everyone you see. Well, fans of the BG series will recall that it has a similar playstyle to the classics but employs a new turn-based combat system. Anyway, with the release of BG3, players are overwhelmed with the content it has to offer. In such a situation, using the simplest items can be confusing. So, in this guide, we have shared details on how to use Rope in Baldur’s Gate 3.

The rope is a basic item that most survival games have. Even some action games include ropes to enable players to either climb or descend areas. In the D&D games, you could use the rope to tie enemies. But what about this latest installment that is inspired by D&D? Is it possible to restrain your enemies using rope in Baldur’s Gate 3? Or is there a new purpose for the rope in-game? Let’s find out.

Baldur’s Gate 3 (BG3): How to use Rope

How to use a Rope in Baldur's Gate 3

We know this will sound strange, but in Baldur’s Gate 3, there is no use for a Rope. This just has a little more value than a plain rock, nothing more. You can throw rope to block vents and be done with it, or you can sell it for some gold. So why do we even have this junk in the first place? Let’s see what destroyed its role in Baldur’s Gate 3.

Non-Lethal Attacks

Since the game features a toggle to turn on non-lethal attacks, there is virtually no reason to restrain your enemies using a rope. You can knock them down and just take them anywhere, or you can just loot them and proceed with your main story. This one toggle destroyed one of the basic needs of a rope. Fantasy world

Baldur’s Gate 3 has many game mechanics that also remove the rope from the picture. Like a Transmutation Spell called Rope Trick, for example. Players can also use items like Feature Fall, which saves them from falling flat to the ground from a higher place. Also, all characters can jump higher, so there is no point to using a rope to begin with. The end note is that there are far more useful items and abilities that surpass a traditional rope and its usage. Having healing items in your inventory will be more beneficial than wasting a slot to store rope.

Developers may also think that in this modern day and age, fancy effects and abilities matter more than realism. Since Baldur’s Gate 3 is based on total fiction, why not just make everything fictional about the real world? Everyone can jump higher than a rope’s length, and even falling from a greater height isn’t an issue either. So it’s recommended that if you do find a rope, use it as a disposal item for tackling traps or sell it for a quick buck. That said, now you know how to use Rope in Baldur’s Gate 3.
