You can imagine the camp as a truly safe place that may be in another dimension or some unknown location that enemies can’t enter. So, once you progress ahead in the in-game story, you will have access to this location, but since the game doesn’t provide ample information regarding the same, getting stuck in the camp is quite normal.
What is the Camp?
The basic idea is that whenever some kind of refilling is needed, you can head over to the camp immediately. To do that, you need to press M, and that will open the fast travel menu screen.
