Teamwork and communication go hand-in-hand, and without both, you can’t really enjoy a team-based game to its fullest. Content Warning is one of the most recently released team-based online co-op games that has made a grand entry into the PC gaming world. With over 50K active players currently playing the game, you can imagine how popular the game has become. Well, although most players have been enjoying the experience, some are just encountering various issues, that are hindering their gameplay. One of the major issues currently disrupting the in-game experience of players is the voice chat not working issue in Content Warning. So, if you too are encountering the same, consider reading this guide for workarounds on how to fix it.
Bugs and issues are always there to accompany new games, but their severity depends on how much time the developers have spent polishing the game. Surprisingly, AAA titles are more prone to bugs, despite having all the resources and team, whereas indie titles aren’t privy to many. But this doesn’t mean that indie games don’t have bugs. Content Warning, the latest indie game from a group of 5 developers, is also riddled with various bugs and issues, but most of them are not game-breaking. Unlike most, the voice chat not working issue in the game is a major bug, that requires immediate fixing from the developers. That said, if you are wondering how to fix this issue, here’s everything you need to know about the same.

Content Warning voice chat not working: How to fix it
Fortunately, the development team is aware of the voice chat not working issue and is working on it. As per various reports, this issue is mainly occurring on systems running Windows 10 and 11, whereas some players have reported that running the game on Linux didn’t lead to this issue ever occurring. Anyway, since the issue is officially acknowledged and is currently being worked on, we are expecting an official patch in a few days. In the meantime, here are a few workarounds worth trying:
Sleep
If the voice chat isn’t working in-game, consider going to sleep in-game and then waking up to check if the issue persists. If it does, try the next workaround.
Disable external audio output devices except one
Since the game doesn’t offer you the option to select the audio output manually, you should disable all audio output devices that are connected to your PC, except the primary device, and then launch the game. It is possible that the game is outputting the voice chat audio to a different audio device that’s connected instead of the one you want to use for communication. You can also try changing the input settings of your Windows PC to select a different default audio device.
Switched to a wired headset
If you are using a Bluetooth headset for communication in-game, consider switching to a wired connection. Doing so has fixed the issue for a player, so you should give this a try as well.
Scarlett Solo 4th Gen Workaround
If you are using the Scarlett Solo 4th gen audio interface, and encountering issues with microphone input on Input 2, there’s a workaround available. In the Focusrite Control 2 Preference menu, enable the “Combine Input 1 and Input 2” option. However, you can also activate this feature directly via the hardware by pressing and holding the front panel ‘Direct’ button for three seconds. After this, both channel number LEDs should light green, indicating that the feature is enabled. If this doesn’t fix the voice chat issue, consider disconnecting the interface as a whole.
Wait for an update
The latest patch for Content Warning was released on April 3rd, 2024, and brought a bunch of news items to the game, along with some bug fixes. Unfortunately, the fix for voice chat issues wasn’t included in the update. However, the developers have mentioned that they are currently working on it, so it shouldn’t take too long for them to release a fix for it. Once the update goes live, make sure to install it and then run the game.
Reinstall
According to a player, uninstalling and reinstalling the game was what fixed the issue for them. So, consider giving this method a try.
Well, these are the workarounds worth trying to fix the voice chat not working issue in Content Warning until an official fix is released. We hope that you find this guide informative. If you did, make sure that you visit Android Gram daily.
